Most tasters here love it exactly for being big, woody and dark. Pencil shavings, prunes and burnt caramel on the nose, then a heavy palate of licorice, leather, coffee and roasted wood — one member says it leans almost toward machine grease, and means that as a compliment. At 50.4% the oak really takes over; one reviewer felt it sat in the barrel a touch too long.

With the 25 years the Origin R spent in the barrel, it counts rather as one of the 'young' representatives. On the nose I have caramel, herbal spice, dried plum, graphite. On the palate old barrel, black tea, burnt sugar. Among the many excellent 88er Enmores it doesn't play at the top, but still a pretty good one!

This is an Enmore just to my taste. Intense, woody and spicy... Still quite restrained on the nose, it develops an intense aroma on the palate with an initially nice caramel sweetness. Quickly, however, it changes to a strong dark spiciness of allspice, licorice, leather and wood. Some raisin joins in. That fits and the finish is nicely long... that's how it should be 🤩

Impressed me at the first tasting, so I got myself a sample (thanks, FischeJ). Today I could taste the rum calmly and it doesn't convince me as much as the first time. Yes, nice coffee can be tasted. But also way too much wet wood. In my eyes, the rum has unfortunately passed its peak, it was in the barrel too long.

03.03.2018 A wonderful day with my friend from Singapore at the whisky.dk event in my hometown. Notes: A very dark rum and a bottle hidden under the desk and it only came out when one commented on the flavours in their glasses. Notes: and a long finish. Very light medicinal notes in the profile.

I somehow find this Enmore great! The nose is initially quite spicy and intense. Then follow dried plum, caramel, yellow fruits, cherry and herbs. Quickly the roasted side joins in. Spices, wood, Maggi, roasted nuts and licorice expand the aroma. On the palate I have wood, licorice, cask notes, leather, raisin, anise, roasted notes and caramel. Very complex and intense. Pimento, berries, yellow fruits and other spices complement the complexity. The long and spicy finish offers a similar profile to the palate and additionally mocha, dried apricot, coconut, herbs and floral hints. The uneven spiciness and the heavy aroma, which almost goes towards machine grease, I honestly find pretty cool! The smokiness makes it even more interesting. 8,7:On the nose, the first impression is a bit dirty, strongly woody, with pencil shavings, roasted, burnt notes like caramel, roasted nuts, spicy with Maggi and fruity with prunes, raisins, yellow, citrus fruits. On aeration, even more roastedness joins with caramelized Demerara sugar, leather, coffee, cocoa and some smokiness, as the molasses is herbaceous. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is intense with 2 aspects of this rum, pairing each other, roasted wood, later perhaps charred, with caramel, leather, roasted nuts, dark chocolate, quite spicy with variety of them and fruits with raisins, berries, cherries, citrus and yellow fruits.The molasses is dark with licorice, herbaceous, some menthol and bitterness join with longer oxidation. 8,8:The finish is really great, round, with dry and tannic wood, roasted and spicy, slightly smoky, dried fruits and coconut, some pencil shavings..

Very tasty Enmore. Brings everything I expected. On the nose many roasted and spicy aromas, a bit of ✏️, dried plum, charred, licorice, and wood. On the palate already intense, slightly bitter and many roasted aromas.
