Here's the surprise: a 17-year Hampden that lands soft instead of loud. The glue, tropical fruit and ester DNA are all there on the nose — pineapple, overripe yellow fruit — but members keep coming back to how watered-down it feels on the palate. Several call it an easy daily sipper that does its job; a few wish it hit harder. Milk chocolate, olive brine and a touch of bitterness round out the finish.

You can't really go far wrong with Hampden. This one is good, but not very good, Hampden has far better ones. The nose consists of esters and tropical fruits. The palate is also ester and very fruity.

Nice rum, outside the usual range of the well-known bottlers. The LROK Mark is not necessarily one of my favorites. Nevertheless, it's a solid rum in the easy sipper category. The only criticism is that it seems a little too thin to me.

Mmh .... Relatively unspectacular but still delicious . Moisture is in the foreground... Alcohol not perceptible (very thin) but the HD gene is still clearly recognizable. Some bitterness in the finish but all in all ok but nothing special. Surprisingly good in May Tai. 3/5

You can clearly taste Hampden DNA. Unfortunately, it is already very diluted. For my taste, it could have a higher High Ester mark.

Nice daily sipper. Not spectacular, does exactly what you expect. But there are certainly Hampdens with a better PLV.

Extremely weak Hampden. I basically have nothing against dilution but here almost all aroma is lost. Apart from glue, roasted aromas, some milk chocolate and olive brine, there's not much to find here. Rather disappointing for me...

Nice nose with typical Hampden notes of esters, tropical fruits. Pineapple etc. Unfortunately the taste can't keep up. The strong dilution doesn't kill the rum but lowers it to a rather gentle level that threatens to slip into insignificance. Brief flashes of strawberry-cream candies and the question: Why was an obviously great rum diluted so much?
