Rum Nation Port Mourant Demerara 1989
Sipped neat, this old Port Mourant runs oily but light on the tongue — the 45% keeps it elegant rather than heavy. Expect burnt sugar, mocha and milk chocolate, a touch of licorice, roasted almonds and old wood. One taster loved the "very slow moving curtains" in the glass. Drier and more composed than most modern Demeraras.

How does Rum Nation Port Mourant Demerara 1989 taste?
Aggregated from 14 community reviews.
Elegant, dry old Demerara, light on proof A well-liked, classic Demerara that several call elegant over powerful. The recurring gripe: at 45% the PM character feels muted, and a couple wanted more punch.

Another older tasting with good friends in a bar that is no more. A well balanced demerara that is kind of light because of the ABV. Wrote in my notes that I would have preferred a higher ABV actually. Oily and light on the palate with light fruit and nice roasted wood notes. Very slow moving curtains and the empty glass is absolutely wonderful.

Älterer Stil. Modriger Geschmack, etwas Lakritz. Im Abgang dann Sherry, etwas Karamell. Tolle seltene Abfüllung.

Classic Demerara fired on the Port Mourant column. Classic 45%. PM is not very pronounced though. Tastes to me a little better than the 1990 (which is a Versailles).

Great Demerara rum! Despite the reduction to 45% nice and creamy and intense. I like it really well!
