Jamaican funk fans are the obvious crowd here: this New Yarmouth pot-still leads with glue and nail polish, then opens into pineapple, banana and warm spice, with a cookie-dough note a few tasters catch on the nose. Several found it so ester-heavy they'd have guessed Hampden blind. The 55% sits fairly well, though a couple wished it hadn't been diluted from cask.

Personally, there are a little too many spices dominant here, such as nutmeg and ginger, as well as fermented kiwi and roasted almonds. very tasty overall, but the 12er new Yarmouth is clearly a bit ahead! But for drinks like Corn'n'Oil it's absolutely great!

Powerful New Yarmouth with a pronounced ester profile. Glue, tropical fruits and spices dominate the nose, with pineapple, banana and a subtle bitterness on the palate. The aromas are multi-layered and harmoniously integrated, giving the rum depth and character. A successful bottling that convincingly presents the profile of New Yarmouth.

19.04.2019 Meeting up with some old colleagues at this wonderful hotel. Notes Light in colour. Nose Intense, fresh, light wood, pineapple, light glue, spices, plum. Palate Light wood, naturally sweet, light glue, faint polish, pineapple, spicy, light salt. Finish Long and warm, wood, light plum, light glue, pineapple.

Certainly a good NY...but: in the nose I miss the fruitiness. Ester and glue dominate too much!On the palate initially esters, a pleasant sweetness and then the change to the spices with vanilla, allspice and ginger! Later transitioning to young wood! The alcohol quite well integrated!The finish is relatively short and is dominated by the spices allspice and licorice!For me it is not so coherent in relation to the other NY known to me

What a great Hampden (Diamond C maybe?)! Okok, it is a NY but in a blind tasting this would have been a Hampden 99,98% sure. Nevertheless, a great but rather untypical NY, a lot of overripe fruits, some spices, wood and a funkiness above all.

Ganz ehrlich, ein echt geiles Teil, wenn man den ABV bedenkt, Wahnsinn. Aber ansonsten haben wir hier eine leichte Süße, welche sich duch Karamell, Vanille und Schokolade bemerkbar macht. Ein geiler Rum.

Un New Yarmouth très équilibré et pourtant marqué par une belle intensité. Le nez est puissant, funky à souhait sur les esters, la colle, les solvants et le vernis à ongles. Il y a de très belles notes de fruits rouges et de fruits tropicaux, notamment sur le kiwi. On discerne les arômes de pâte à biscuit et de massepain, quelques notes épicées sur la vanille et la muscade qui offrent un profil rond et complet. Une belle réussite olfactive. Le profil s’enrichit et devient gras en bouche, mais on sent la légère dilution. On a une belle combinaison entre les fruits exotiques et mûrs (banane, ananas, mangue), les belles notes beurrées et pâtissières, mais aussi le funk marqué par les esters, la colle, les solvants et le vernis à ongles. Des épices viennent apporter une tonalité de plus au profil, la muscade notamment. Un profil complet et gourmand où l’alcool est très bien intégré. La finale est intense, sèche, un peu plus astringente mais toujours mêlée aux notes de biscuit, aux agrumes et aux fruits tropicaux. Les notes phénoliques sont un peu plus fermentaires et lactiques, allant de pair avec la pâtisserie. Les épices gardent la chaleur en bouche mais les arômes s’estompent assez rapidement. Très joli produit, intense et savoureux à la fois.

This is a very powerful Jamaican rum. On the nose, I get lots of pineapple, esters, and nail polish with an intense spiciness. On the palate, again very intense with beautiful, fruity esters. An exciting funkiness combined with great spice notes (e.g. ginger) comes along with roasted aromas. Also some lemon balm. The finish is medium-long, powerful, and characterized by spice, wood, and bright tropical fruits. Really well done.

NY High Ester blind tasting with JNY20, JNY19, JNY15, JNE16, and TWJ 2009. On the nose, the typical NY High Ester markers with glue, marzipan, cookie dough, tropical fruits, vanilla. On the palate, already oily with esters, tropical fruits, marzipan, spices. The alcohol is well integrated here. This one was my favorite today, although I liked them all a lot and in the end it probably just comes down to how you're feeling that day.

Litte NY side-by-side: For the 2005 vintage: on the nose the CDI 12y @55% very much hits more of the chemical notes. Funky with solvents. Very much overpowering fruity and cookie (dough) notes. The 13y CDI brother delivers more on the latter. Still funky with chemicals, but more fruits and a more pleasant nose. Also feels more intense as it is more complex. The full proof GC does the same but declasses the lower ABV CDI‘s on the nose. Brilliant NY profile! The BottleShop clearly shows it’s higher age. Cookie and cake notes with lots of vanilla are dominating here. Yet there is still ample funk and tropical fruits. Powerful and very tastey. Could spent hours with this nose. On the palate the younger CDI stays true to the nose: lots of esters and chemical notes. Some fruits (mango) and some smokiness. A bit weird but interesting. With 55% at good drinking strength while not lacking intensity just as the 13y. Again in the CDI 13y chemical notes are a bit more moderate with more cookie and fruit notes. More pleasing but still intense and funky. I prefer this one out of the CDIs. For the CG full proof again: absolute power house! Very intense with a nice balance of (lots of) funk and cookie and fruity notes. Excellent 2005 NY indeed. On the palate the BS again demonstrates what the 2005 vintage can do with some more time in the cask. More rounded out than the younger bottlings in my lineup but still very intense with ester, funky fruits and even more cookie notes excentuated with more vanilla from the cask. Looking at 2005 vs. 2009 - in general - 2005 brings more funk and esters to the table while 2009 provides even more cookie notes.

A bit reserved on the nose, but classic NY profile with an additional slight banana note and spices/herbs on the palate. If you like NY you will get your money's worth here. Well integrated 55%.

On the nose: Very glue forward at first, but once the rum opens up you get more esters, fermented overripe pineapple notes and spicy notes with cookie notes as a sweeter note. Taste: Esters, overripe pineapples and bananas, glue notes, light citrus notes, light ginger notes and then you get some pastry notes, light vanilla and spicy notes. Finish: Fermented pineapple notes, esters, light spicy notes in the background. Light pastry notes. Finish is quite dry. Medium finish. Good New Yarmouth with a good, strong body without that intensity. No big surprises on the palate, it delivers what you ask for from a Jamaican rum

Awesome stuff. Very similar to RX4089, but a year older. The dilution would not have had to be. There was more in it and the Danish bottlings show what was possible.

Hab ihn 2019 auf der Hanse Spirit bei Perola ergattert, war für mich lange der Inbegriff eines Jamaica Rum und wäre es vielleicht auch heute aber die Flasche ist leider schon lange leer ;) (Daher auch leider keine Tasting Details sondern eine emotionale Bewertung aus der Erinnerung)

If you catch the nose briefly, you even get fresh cookie dough from vanilla crescents. Otherwise lots of glue and typical spicy Jamaica notes. Spicy sweet taste with roasted puff pastry and tropical fruits. Also here glue or nail polish. Unfortunately, the alcohol is not so well integrated. The finish again roasted with yellow fruits and spices.

Fantastic New Yarmouth. Very fruity and also vegetal. In addition, spicy-herbal and in the taste also biscuit-sweetish. Makes really fun!
