Savanna Collection Grand Arôme Thunderstruck 2004
"A thunderstruck of ester indeed," as one taster put it — and that's the honest summary. Glue, nail polish and sour cherry on the nose, then overripe tropical fruit, strawberry bubblegum, menthol and oak on the palate. At 65% it drinks surprisingly round, but it needs a long rest in the glass. Heavy from start to finish, with an endless finish.

What a grenade!!!⛈️⚡🤤⚡💥🤯🇷🇪 incredibly complex. After 1h breathing time cinnamon cookies, apple turnover, strawberry chewing gum and honey banana in the nose. Incredibly mild for 65%, awesome sour cherry, pineapple, strawberry and mint, chamomile olive notes and very complex and dangerously drinkable. Musty, fermented and sticky without end. This thing is definitely the full broadside of Savanna Grande arome as it is written in the book! But I think the Lava and Madras are even better!

Super Savanna Here, too, a Grand Arome with mega complexity to fall in love with. Really great with fruit, wood and spice. Beautifully balanced with well-integrated alcohol. For me GA > HERR, I know, many see it differently.

On the nose, in addition to the brute Grand Arôme punch, memories of cinnamon-y apple turnover come to mind. Also, lots of overripe tropical fruit (and strawberries) and glue come in. Exciting! Intense and creamy on the palate. In addition to the overripe fruit, there is also a pleasant honeyed sweetness. Despite the 66.1%, the alcohol is very well integrated. Absolute Savanna top class!

Un Savanna qui frappe avec la force de la foudre. Le profil olfactif est très intense, avec beaucoup de fruits mûrs (fruits tropicaux sur la mangue, l’ananas, la banane, mais aussi les fruits rouges sur la cerise et la fraise), une bonne dose d’arômes phénoliques (esters, colle, vernis de bois et à ongles) et des notes florales et vertes sur l’olive. On y distingue également une touche pâtissière sur l’amande et le massepain. Les épices aiguisent les angles avec le poivre, la cannelle, la vanille, la réglisse et l’anis. Un rhum des plus complets et expressifs dans son style. L’attaque en bouche est exquise, un parfait équilibre entre les puissantes saveurs du Grand Arôme et la rondeur du profil. Les fruits tropicaux et rouges bien mûrs dominent le palais, avec un arrière-goût de bonbon arlequin chimique qui est sûrement accentué par les notes de vernis, de colle et d’esters. Les épices sont de retour et tout aussi généreuses, aiguisant le palais. Les notes plus pâtissières, florales et végétales donnent un spectre aromatique très complet et agréable dans lequel les saveurs sont très homogènes. L’alcool est extrêmement bien intégré. La finale est longue, légèrement amère sur le thé avec des notes végétales et médicinales. Le fruité du Grand Arôme revient en force avec un fond épicé. C’est très élaboré et aromatique, avec une forme de lourdeur qui contraste avec la douceur en bouche. Un rhum de référence pour l’Île de la Réunion.

Horny stuff! It is difficult for me to describe this rum, because it is somehow different, Savanna just. Fruity, a little artificial and reminiscent of bubble gum, but not so much as a HERR. At the same time also spicy notes and herbal aromas, especially olive and mint. Wonderfully complex and incredibly intense, from the first sip the entire mouth is taken. Overall, very high quality, there are a few points deduction with me, because he is very special and not one hundred percent meets my preferences. If you're up for it but quite great cinema!

Farbe: Kastanie Geruch: Ester, sehr fruchtig und süß, tropische Früchte (Mango, Banane) sowie Lösungsmittel. Fudge und weißer Nugat. Geschmack: Im Mund süß, Ester, Fruchtcocktail. Beim Schlucken sehr lecker, süß, cremig und fruchtig (tropische Früchte), alkoholisch, Karamell. Würzig und rund. Abgang: Lang Fruchtig und würzig, bleibt dabei eher süß. Im Abgang etwas blumig. 90 Punkte

Dégustation d'un sample de 3cl. 👃 Premier contact qui me rappelle la Gascogne et ses eaux de vie de raisin, sur un nez très Ugni Blanc et Colombard. Le fût de Cognac a donné. Fruits secs (raisins, abricots), fruits confits de Noël (agrumes), léger voile de menthe poivrée et médicamenteuse. Après au moins 30 minutes d'aération, je fais face à une explosion de Grand Arôme mature et boisé avant tout. J'y trouve des senteurs de colle et de dissolvant qui développent des arômes fermentaires et surmûris. D'autres saveurs se mélangent pèle mêle, fraises artificielles, léger caramel, miel cristallisé, bâton de cannelle, feuille de tabac séché. Les esters sont présents mais pas aussi extravagants que ceux que l'on trouve dans d'autres GA (Lave, Madras). 😋 Pouah ! Bien plus de funk et d'esters se dégagent en bouche. Retour de la menthe poivrée, plus vive, des agrumes en tout genre, trop mûrs, des orangettes au chocolat noir aussi. Oh et ce goût unique de fraises gariguettes laissées trop longtemps au soleil. C'en est presque pâtissier et gourmand sur une recette de crème caramel trop cuite à la vanille Bourbon, cannelle et épices de cuisine. Quelques notes éparses de tapenades aux olives noires et d'enchoïades en fin de bouche. Le long vieillissement tropical a permis de développer des saveurs tertiaires s'assimilant aux produits de polissage et de vernis à meubles pour bois précieux. ⛳ Longue, chaude, un peu pimentée, réconfortante, amère. D'une part, miel, cannelle et fruits confits portent cette finale, et d'autre part je retrouve toujours ces petites olives noires marinées. Différentes feuilles de thé noir complètent l'ensemble. Ce vin propose une détonante expérience orageuse mêlant des caractéristiques rustiques et austères à des saveurs plus funky et estérisées. Un exemple d'équilibre. Moins fruité que ses compères pour plus de déclinaisons boisées complexes. Une sorte de vin automne-hiver si vous voyez ce que je veux dire. Excellent.

Sehr intensiv. In der Nase Klebstoff und Nagellack. Am Gaumen viele Aromen, von Frucht zum Schwarztee zurück zur Minze und wieder Holz. Schön ölig. Alkohol top eingebunden.
