was für eine Granate!!⛈️⚡🤤⚡💥🤯🇷🇪 unfassbar komplex. Nach 1H Atemzeit Zimt-Gebäck, Apfeltaschen, Erdbeer Kaugummi und Honig Banane in der Nase. Ungewöhnlich dreckig fast schon leichte Caroni Noten und rauchig mit viel Nagellack an der Nase! Dazu Unglaublich mild für 65%, geile Sauerkirsche, Ananas, Erdbeer und Minze, Kamille Olive Noten und sehr komplex und gefährlich süffig. Modrig, vergoren und Klebstoff-lastig ohne Ende. Das Ding ist auf jeden Fall die volle Breitseite an Savanna Grande arome wie er im Buche steht! Tagesform Abhängig aber heute find ich ihn deutlich spannender und außergewöhnlicher wie Lava oder Madras zum Beispiel.

Super Savanna Here, too, a Grand Arome with mega complexity to fall in love with. Really great with fruit, wood and spice. Beautifully balanced with well-integrated alcohol. For me GA > HERR, I know, many see it differently.

On the nose, besides the brutal Grand Arôme punch, there are also memories of cinnamon apple turnover. Additionally, lots of overripe tropical fruits (and strawberries) and glue. Exciting! On the palate, intense and creamy. Besides the overripe fruits, there is also a pleasant honey sweetness. Despite the 66.1%, the alcohol is very well integrated. Absolute Savanna top class!

A Savanna that strikes with the force of lightning. The olfactory profile is very intense, with lots of ripe fruit (tropical fruits like mango, pineapple, banana, but also red fruits like cherry and strawberry), a good dose of phenolic aromas (esters, glue, wood and nail varnish) and floral and green notes on olive. There's also a pastry touch on almond and marzipan. The spices sharpen the edges with pepper, cinnamon, vanilla, licorice and anise. A most complete and expressive rum in its style. The attack on the palate is exquisite, a perfect balance between the powerful flavors of the Grand Arôme and the roundness of the profile. The tropical and ripe red fruits dominate the palate, with a chemical harlequin candy aftertaste surely accentuated by varnish, glue and ester notes. The spices return just as generously, sharpening the palate. The more pastry, floral and vegetal notes give a very complete and pleasant aromatic spectrum in which the flavors are very homogeneous. The alcohol is extremely well integrated. The finish is long, slightly bitter on tea with vegetal and medicinal notes. The fruity Grand Arôme returns strongly with a spicy background. It's very elaborate and aromatic, with a form of heaviness that contrasts with the softness in the mouth. A reference rum for Réunion Island.

Horny stuff! It is difficult for me to describe this rum, because it is somehow different, Savanna just. Fruity, a little artificial and reminiscent of bubble gum, but not so much as a HERR. At the same time also spicy notes and herbal aromas, especially olive and mint. Wonderfully complex and incredibly intense, from the first sip the entire mouth is taken. Overall, very high quality, there are a few points deduction with me, because he is very special and not one hundred percent meets my preferences. If you're up for it but quite great cinema!

Pure Grand Arôme, the cask brings tannins, a bit of bitterness, but only subtle oak aromas. Strawberry, mint, olive, subtle minerality, great balance.

Today I have 3 Savannas in the glass to be able to classify the new RumX bottling. The contenders are Rob's bottling, the Virtues, the Savanna Thunderstruck, and of course the RumX #991. Thanks again to Oliver for the sample in advance. In conclusion, for me the RumX has the best nose. It also takes first place in taste for me. You just can't beat 17 years of tropical aging of a Savanna. The Thunderstruck Grand Arome can't keep up with that. Rob's Virtues secured second place for me.

Wow - a rum where you can once again understand the Savanna hype. Crazy intense tropical fruits and esters, olive, mint, and light spices harmonize super well here. The alcohol is barely noticeable for the strength - hats off!

Small, private Savanna Coss tasting 2025-07-10: I've wanted to try this for a long time. Surprisingly a lot of glue on the nose. Fruit is there but takes a back seat behind olive, some mint and other 'green' notes. On the palate it hits. You notice the 65%, but in a pleasant way. The fruit comes forward with typical notes of strawberry and sour cherry. I get the hype around this bottling. If anyone wants to give up a bottle...

Color: Chestnut Smell: Esters, very fruity and sweet, tropical fruits (mango, banana) as well as solvents. Fudge and white nougat. Taste: Sweet in the mouth, esters, fruit cocktail. Very tasty when swallowed, sweet, creamy and fruity (tropical fruits), alcoholic, caramel. Spicy and round. Finish: Long Fruity and spicy, remaining rather sweet. Somewhat floral in the finish. 90 points

A wonderful example of grand aroma. This time one of the older bottlings, which will mostly be drunk by now, which doesn't have a favorable effect on the price, but if you have the chance to taste it, I definitely recommend it. A blast of strawberries just the way we like it!

This takes a lot of time to open up. I think it did sit in the glass for atleast an hour before it started to open up. Last Savanna rum of tonight. On the nose: Intense. Glue/Nail polish note. Light sour cherry note. Baking spices, cinnamon spices and maybe apple notes. Taste: Intense. Ester and nail polish notes at first. Then you get overripe fruity notes with sour cherries as main note. Mouthfell is slightly oily. Then you get mild minty notes in the end. Finish: Vegetal notes like minty notes and light black tea notes as the main note. Light esters. Light fruity notes. Medium-long finish. I have finally found some Savanna rums that i really like. This rum needs to sit in the way longer than usual, but i think its worth it. I really like the overripe fruits/sour cherry notes on this one.

Tasting a 3cl sample. 👃 First contact reminds me of Gascony and its grape brandies, with a very Ugni Blanc and Colombard nose. The Cognac barrel influence is there. Dried fruits (raisins, apricots), Christmas candied fruits (citrus), slight veil of peppermint and medicinal notes. After at least 30 minutes of airing, I face an explosion of mature and woody Grand Arôme above all. I find scents of glue and solvent developing fermentary and overripe aromas. Other flavors mix haphazardly: artificial strawberries, light caramel, crystallized honey, cinnamon stick, dried tobacco leaf. The esters are present but not as extravagant as those found in other GAs (Lave, Madras). 😋 Phew! Much more funk and esters emerge in the mouth. Return of peppermint, livelier, all kinds of citrus, overripe, dark chocolate orangettes too. Oh and that unique taste of gariguette strawberries left too long in the sun. It's almost pastry-like and indulgent on a recipe of overcooked vanilla Bourbon caramel cream, cinnamon and cooking spices. Some scattered notes of black olive tapenades and anchovy paste at the end of the mouth. The long tropical aging allowed the development of tertiary flavors akin to polishing and varnishing products for precious wood furniture. ⛳ Long, warm, a bit spicy, comforting, bitter. On one hand, honey, cinnamon and candied fruits carry this finish, and on the other hand I still find those little marinated black olives. Different black tea leaves complete the whole. This wine offers a striking stormy experience mixing rustic and austere characteristics with funkier and esterified flavors. An example of balance. Less fruity than its peers for more complex woody variations. A kind of autumn-winter wine if you know what I mean. Excellent.

Fantastic rum. Flavors upon flavors and surprisingly round and drinkable for 65%. The finish is endless. I still had the flavors in my mouth the next morning despite brushing my teeth.

On the nose cherry, strawberry, rhubarb, menthol and tobacco. On the palate the ⚡️ really hits. My first impression: someone has been diligently scraping the vanilla bean seeds out... plus tobacco, red fruits and tannins. The finish reminds me of Chinese Gunpowder tea.

One of my favorite Savanna Grand Arôme. It requires long aeration. It's a real tasting rum intended for palates accustomed to powerful rums with its camphor and menthol notes. A must but not the most accessible Savanna.

I'm not the biggest fan of the GA profile overall, but here it works pretty well. On the one hand, it's due to the great alcohol integration and the nice mouthfeel, and on the other hand, the long tropical aging that plays around the typical markers with lots of wood and spices. Wick Blau is also distinctive alongside the strawberry chewing gum. For fans of this type of rum, definitely a top bottling.

Interesting nose with depth and complexity. You can keep coming back and find a new layer. It’s balanced in the mouth - maybe with a tiny overweight in the alcohol. A whole lot of levels and nuances. Hard to describe as the tasting notes are very volatile in the mouth. Overall an excellent glass

Typical Savanna with brownies/cake/chocolate flour finish Rums from the Savanna distillery are some of my favorites. I recommend everyone try especially the ester-rich ones like Grand Arome or HERR. You haven't felt so much fruit in just a few drops of liquid for a long time.

Online tasting organised by Mirco, super interesting tasting! I'm not an expert in Savanna so that was definitely an experience. Fourth one in the tasting, this one came up third for me. It has a rubber side, like a dirty Caroni that I really like.

Uhh this is nice. A thunderstruck of ester indeed. This is heavy from start to finish. Salt, vinegar, iodine and loads of ester. A bit of teca a bit st. Lucia and loads of high ester goodnes from reunion
