La Favorite La Flibuste 1992
Sip this one slow after dinner — it's built for a chair and a quiet hour, not a cocktail. Concentrated and dark, with prune leading the way, then dates, caramel, vanilla and a whiff of old cognac. The 40% keeps it soft and syrupy, almost too easy to drink. Several tasters flag a sweetness that feels dosed, and it barely reads as classic agricole — but almost everyone finishes the glass happy.

On the nose, lots of plum and pleasant Christmas associations - concentrated and dark. Then dangerously quaffable and smooth on the palate. The sweetness seems a bit on the nose - almost like a shot of prune juice. Perfect as a relaxed, liquid dessert, though.

8,9:On the nose, the first impression we get is a bit roasted, waxy, dark, juicy and mineral sugar cane, that is caramelized with dried fruits like dates, figs. It is very elegant and round. It reminds us of an old cognac. Aeration brings out other dark notes like licorice, roasted hazelnuts, toffee, cocoa, black tea, as it is a bit musty. There is some wood presence, but in balance with cane and fruits. Spices are not strong.Nice rest and herbal notes, menthol are here. 9,2:On the palate, the attack is soft, thick, syrupy and delicious with dark sugar cane, waxy and mineral, a bit spicy. The fruits are dried, like dried dates, figs and prunes, some raisins. It is very round and balanced. We come to wood in second attack on our tasting buds, a bit roasted, dry, there are roasted nuts, cocoa, black tea, licorice, some tobacco and toffee, very tasty. More red fruits join the game after resting, as the rum is very earthy, musty. 9,2:The finish is very long, sweet, delicious, woody, dry with dark and mineral sugar cane, musty, vegetal and fruity with all the markers from palate and dried apricots as a addition. Top👌.

A rum tasted in a restaurant, the last glass in the bottle. The nose is very "corde de chanvre", old barn and raisins, the hallmarks of Favorite. Herbaceous notes, prunes and cognac. The palate is sweet (too sweet?) with citrus and still the old hemp rope and raisins. The finish is long, almost sticky, with vegetal and citrus notes. The empty glass is very similar to the first nose. A full-bodied rum, yet with tension despite the impression of sweetness.

Overall an Agricole that’s not giving me an impression of an AOC Agricole, but it’s an excellent rum. I believe most people should have problems to categorize it as an Agricole in a blind taste. Got a sample of this very special Agricole from RumX, produced by La Favorite in Martinique. The nose is fruity, woody, sweet and a little smoky with aromas of prunes, caramel, vanilla and chocolate. At the palate it’s super smooth and round with the aromas coming back as tastes together with licorice. The finish is between medium and long and also super smooth and round.

This is a very nice La Favorite. And as usual they just deliver. The nose is fruity and sweet with spices and some barrel in the back. The palate is sweet and balanced with a lot of fruit and some caramel and vanilla. The rum makes nice curtains in the glass. The finish is long and lightly sweet with barrel, vanilla and a hint of licorice.

First buccaneering sample, After so much reading and re-reading, I must admit that one thing is certain: on the nose and palate, it's like nothing else. The nose is ultra-sweet, with hints of dried dates, caramel and red fruit, but I find it a little synthetic, The palate follows suit, with a suave, honeyed quality that's almost... supernatural! It's hard to believe. I'm a bit puzzled. The ending is all about honey, spices, dates and so on. Very long and surprising for 40 degrees! In any case, it's a must-taste, nothing to say!

Sehr sanfter, eleganter Agricole.
