Rhum J.M Single Barrel (Selected by Kirsch) 2004
Surprise here: 14 years of tropical aging and it still drinks light and elegant, not oak-bombed. Expect toasted-cask vanilla, cherry, plum and apricot with floral, almost perfumed notes, and one taster caught "some apple pie notes." Several call it a beautifully balanced agricole, never thin. The recurring grumble is the 43.6% ABV — a few wish it hit harder.

Elegant, fruity aged agricole, gentle proof Widely loved among J.M fans — one member's winner of a 30-bottle blind tasting. Elegant, fruity, well-balanced. The one real gripe: several wanted more ABV for a longer finish.

On the nose, the J.M shines with Neisson's elegance. Complemented / dominated by cherries and dusty dresser (great!).In the mouth liquid maraschino cherries.Very exceptional Agricole, probably perfect with cheese fondue.

Superb alcohol integration. Nose is magnificent with some apple pie notes 🤩 Very good agricole !

Tested at the Franconian Tasting against the J.M. bottling from WuDram. Both very successful in my opinion. I'm probably swimming against the tide here, everyone saw the WuDram in front, but I liked the Kirsch bottling better.

Very tasty bottling with a broad spectrum of flavors in the best balance. Does not seem thin at any time, always offers new facets and thus becomes wonderfully quaffable. Agricole par excellence.

Incredibly cool Agricole! Not too thin, not too much wood despite such a long maturation period, very elegant and complex. I like it extremely well!

A smooth, excellent rum! A little too tame for me though

Similar in basic character to the 2003, but much more intense and with a nicer finish.

The absolute winner of the blind tasting of 30 different J.M!

Review by Frank

Klasse...
