RumX rarities day 1. A heavy, dark nose of varnish and old wet wood. Look for tropical fruit. Slight bourbon in the background. The same heavy, dark side is present on the palate. We go underground, a vaulted cellar with a dirt floor, a smell of mystery and old smoke. The finish is super-long on wet varnished wood. Light vanilla, pencil lead and brown sugar come through. I love these atypical rums that tell a story. It's a long way from a light, easy-drinking rum, but I'm fascinated by the red cargo here.

Heavy and dark. A real firecracker! A highlight from the RumX Rarities Sample Set. 😊

The nose is intense and complex. Prune, leather, spice and some currant. On the palate, salty licorice and a pleasant dryness. Leather, spice, coffee and an earthy undertone. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. Wow, a real highlight!

the #1 from the Rarities set. To start on the nose brine, a bit like the continental PMs. Then after more standing time in the glass, licorice, mocha, caramel, pencil. I can also relate to the currant. Also kind of dusty-dry, but that's meant in a positive way. Reminds me of the '85 RA VSG now. On the palate a nice balance between fruit and coffee, leather. The rather moderate ABV contributes to a very pleasant, almost mild finish, with old barrel. Class part!

Needs some time in the glass, but then the rum drives an impressive spectrum of spices, fruits, heavy sweetness and even some minerality. Seems like an EHP with a touch of Versailles, but this can probably only be speculated. In any case, an excellent drop.

First blind tasting thanks to RumX and not disappointed, it was top notch, it's true that it reveals more aroma little by little, it would have taken more to fully appreciate. Otherwise, it is indeed a significant Guyana! Top !!!

A superb Enmore from the good old days, which opens with an elegant, round and complex nose. There are notes of dried fruit on prune, aromatic herbs and tobacco, but also noble oak, spices, licorice, leather and dark, roasted notes that go as far as Demerara sugar, molasses and caramel. A very enticing profile. On the palate, the finesse of the nose returns with notes of dried fruit and herbs, but then the noble wood, spice and old leather take over. Slight bitterness, dark and even salty notes add an extra touch that makes all the difference on the palate. The profile is very round and the alcohol very well integrated. The finish is of decent length; it could have been a little more lively, but the delicacy of the aromas partly explains this more subtle withdrawal. There's just the right amount of bitterness for it to be well appreciated, it's very well balanced. A superb Enmore, a good rum like no other.

Blind tasted in the RumX Rarities Tasting. Guyana recognized, but could not assign it to a particular still, so probably a Guyana blend around 55% with probably a Versailles share. Alcohol well integrated and the very dark profile after pouring with a very spicy (almost soy/maggie) component develops nicely and is fully there after half an hour. Not yu dark, not too light with elegant bitterness.

Rum Rarities 2023 Day 1: Reminds me very much of the 94 REVs, with lots of wood and spices, heavy sweetness and some dark fruit like plum. In addition, there are a few too many bitter notes for me, as well as a note reminiscent of Maggi or soy sauce, which I have a hard time with. In sum, a great rum, but not a profile that picks me up completely.
