Cadenhead's Enmore XPD XPD 1971
"One of the best Cadenhead's they ever made," as one reviewer put it — and the notes back him up. The nose opens with glue and varnish before settling into fruit, nuts and coffee; the palate is oily and intense, with cocoa, licorice, leather and burnt sugar. A 1971 Enmore pot-still Demerara at cask strength — old, heavy and long on the finish. Bottle-hunting territory now.

How does Cadenhead's Enmore XPD XPD 1971 taste?
Aggregated from 13 community reviews.
Old Demerara: leather, coffee, burnt sugar Loved by nearly everyone who's tried it — a deep, complex old Demerara. A couple note it's just past its peak and the burnt edge runs strong, but that's a quibble at this level.

This is a very good Cadenhead, probably one of the best ones they ever made. I can only recommend it if you can get a bottle, which would mean auction. The nose is wonderful kicking off with glue and some varnish before settling into fruits, nuts and coffee. A bit of wood in there as well. The palate picks up where the nose left off. Intense and complex and a bit oily. Nice curtains in the glass. Fruity with cocoa and coffee. In the back i get licorice, caramel, tea and wood. The finish is forever and fruity with spices the back has wood and burnt sugar.
