Finally got to taste this history. It's a Green Label Demerara rum 1975 from bottler Cadenhead's. There are 4 bottles from 1975 with 40%, 40.3%, 40.5%, and 40.6%. Each was bottled in a different year. I had the chance to enjoy the 40% bottle, bottled in 2012, meaning it was in the cask nearly 37 years. Unfortunately, I couldn't find how many years it spent in the tropics and how many in Scotland. The rum was distilled in an archival double pot still made of wood called Port Mourant. At such low strength, I was pleasantly surprised by the pronounced aroma and full dense taste. Aroma of woodiness, raisins, and coffee. Taste heavy woody from the cask, going through bitter chocolate, coffee, ending in licorice. For me 8.6 out of 10. Too bad it didn't have higher %; I would have rated it better.

03.06.2008 Relaxing with a few friends, food as well as beer in the evening. Notes Very dark in colour. Nose Woody, roasted, light caramel, nutty, light coffee, plum. Palate Round, wood, roasted, plum, ginger, spice, light, dried fruit. Finish Light, short to medium, wood, anise, raisin, spice.
