With a medium to long finish it still manages to surprise. Fruity with oak and a lightly smoky touch. Price to quality is very good.

Slightly better than the 15-year but doesn't blow me away either. Here again it seems slightly smoky, malty & lightly peaty, here already bacon-like. Also a bit sweeter than the 15-year, but again rather thin and watery.

Got the rum as a free sample from Rum&Co. Drinkable, but no need to buy. I think that sums it up well. Nothing bothers about the rum, but nothing really sticks in memory either.

The 18-year-old Malecon Reserva Imperial was overall okay, but personally I had higher expectations for this rum. The often predicted fruit probably didn’t make it into my bottle and likely ended up in another. Still, the area of wood, roasted aromas, and spices was something different and overall quite nice. However, those who mostly prefer rather sweet rums should look for an alternative.

The rum has a strong golden tone. A quite sweet and easy-drinking smell, caramel, a bit of port wine. On the taste, a bit less sweet, slightly bitter, a bit spicier. The finish is soft, a bit sweeter than the taste.

I was not disappointed. Malecon stands for round rums. not sweetened, just pithy. excellent price-performance ratio. was my 2nd bottle of Malecon. Tasted again today, the difference to the 25 year old is greater. The 25 year old is more complex, both top rums
