A.F.D. Ron Barceló Gran Añejo
"Good mixer and even straight," as one member puts it — that's this rum in a sentence. Expect light toffee, butterscotch and a bit of chocolate and coconut cream, with young oak underneath. It's soft, sweet-leaning and simple; a few tasters call it thin, even close to water. Better in cola than in a tasting glass, and easy on beginners.

How does A.F.D. Ron Barceló Gran Añejo taste?
Aggregated from 90 community reviews.
Light, sweet, easy everyday mixer Most see a light, sweet everyday mixer — toffee and coconut, easy to drink. The catch: it's thin and one-note, and a few found it too watery to bother with neat.

6,3:On the nose, the first impression is dry, woody. The dominant aroma is clearly caramel. This is followed by roasted chocolate notes, nuts, coconut, there is some cinnamon. We could clearly notice ex bourbon cask ageing, as some yellow fruits appear, some orange peel. Finally, a touch of vanilla appears. 6,3:On the palate, the attack is supple but dry, with no sugar. The same aromas are present as on the nose, wood, bourbon, chocolate, roasted nuts, caramel, some spice. However, chocolate and caramel are even.Although the palate is rather light, the tastings buds are well cared. 6:The finish is medium long and still woody, dry. The same notes remain, with some spice...

A really simple nose, very little detail aside from sweetness and a bit of alcohol sharp. On taste, however, smooth milky coconut cream. Finish is again coconut milk, thick and creamy and oily. Surprisingly good taste, dull nose.

Zapach beczka, wiórki kokosowe, orzech laskowy, limonka, migdały ze skórką, grejpfrut, cynamon Smak: czekolada, orzechy, drewno, wanilia, gałka muszkatołowa, biały pieprz, wiórki kokosowe Finisz pikantny, szybko zanikający ale przyjemny, orzech laskowy, kawa, cukier trzcinowy

This brings back too many memories early on my rum journey to not rate in the mid range . A typical Spanish rum that you wouldn't dare drink neat but when put with mixers and all inclusive.cocktails is good

Suprisingly pleasant, however monotonously toffee and butterscotch like. Sweet in perception. Sugar added, but not to sky high levels.
Review by Tom Leenders
Somewhat bland in taste, very sweet and the taste doesn't stay with you long after tasting either. Otherwise, this is good to drink and especially for this price

Good for what it costs. Tastes a bit flat but i do like the finish although it's rather short. Not too sweet either.

Rather light fare for a Barcelo. But very pleasant and light in taste. Good rum 👍😁
