Long Pond & Clarendon Plantation Jamaica Grands Terroirs 2005

Most people land on "a good entry Jamaica" here, though a few find it sharp for the strength. The nose is the star: a whole basket of tropical fruit, juicy pear, banana, vanilla and a little resinous wood. The palate turns spicier and woodier, with almond, caramel and cocoa. One taster called it "not really my thing. A bit too sharp." A drop of water helps.

06.2024 First impression: very aromatic, clear golden color, clear legs in the glass Nose: wide range of aromas, tropical fruits, esters, wood, vanilla, even some smoke Palate: the alcohol bites first, followed by the barrels of maturation and fruit, complex Finish: medium length, warm, wood, smoke Overall impression: I like the nose better than the palate, pleasant sipper, maybe try it in a punch? 201X? no comments

This one may need a drop of water or two in order to release all the flavours. I'd be willing to classifying this rum as funky, but it is of course from Jamaica so you'd expect that. A very nice well balanced nose and a funky palate with an explosion of flavours. The finish is long, warm and has some spices to it. Price to quality is very good.

Good daily sipper jamican. Lovely fruit basket paired with grated almonds and some honey with a hint of peppermint. This combination repeats in the mouth, without being any compley at all. The Finish is short-medium long. The alcohol isn’t integrated well, too spicy for 45% only. PLV is very good.

Plantation étonnant, légèrement tourbé à la banane caramélisée... enfin pour moi c'est ce qui le caractérise car c'est ce que je sens le plus.

The nose appears balanced with lots of fruit, a variety of aromas appear on the palate, much spicier than the nose suggests, long finish with spices.

No rum is more imitated than Jamaican rum. This is the home of funk, the fruity, overripe-banana intensity that drinkers call hogo, made in the biggest pot stills outside Irish whiskey. When the rest of the Caribbean moved to the column still, Jamaica kept the pot still as its house style, and that stubbornness is exactly why its rum is so prized today.
