8,1:On the nose, nutty wood, iodine, overripe banana, pineapple, citrus fruits, candied fruits, grassy molasses, hay, briny olive, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the fruits are fermented, the molasses fresh with tea, flowery, metallic patina arrives, spiciness. 7,6:On the palate, the attack is diluted, thin with nutty, slightly resinous wood, spicy with vanilla, pepper, overripe fruits like banana, apple, lime, the molasses is flowery, grassy, vegetal with olive, becomes sweet, candied. 7,5:The finish is short, dry and tannic, with nutty, smoky wood, vegetal, herbaceous molasses, hay and some fruits. This Long Pond is pretty watered down, the distillery can really do better. It's quite fruity, you can recognize a lot of overripe and fermented fruits here, but unfortunately, as already mentioned, way too watered down.

06.10.2001 Whiskymessen.dk in Kolding. Went with good friends of which most were whisky drinkers. They did have a bit of rum present and some bottles we brought for more fun. Notes. My German friend brought this one. Nose: light wood, citrus, grass, light. Palate: light, light wood, citrus, pineapple, grass. Finish: short, spice, anise.

Smells like spring, but sometimes also just like a pile of straw/hay. And then sometimes a touch of dandelion. On the palate, notes of flowers and apple emerge very faintly. Definitely not a complex or funky rum. A bit too diluted. The finish is medium. These characteristics are actually quite appropriate for this price.

Basically not a bad bottling. But unfortunately, you have to note that it's a bit too watered down. For me, it's a bit too thin and diluted. Still, a good easy sipper.

When you think of an '86 Jamaican, you first imagine some really awesome stuff. Honestly, the price could have been a hint that it's not the case. Taste-wise, it's really okay with tropical fruits, a very light woodiness, and overripe candied fruits on the nose. On the palate, a bit nutty with caramel, but way too thin. At cask strength, it surely would have had a lot more going on!
