Dried apricot, walnut and old oak lead here, with cocoa, leather and a grassy agricole backbone underneath. Most tasters find the 45% beautifully tucked away — soft, round, almost Cognac-like. The common gripe: the palate can feel a touch thin or diluted next to that lovely nose, and bitter tannins creep into the finish. A gentle, mature Martinique rhum.

First day of the 2024 Advent calendar: slightly sour on the nose, green vegetables, old Madeira, apple compote, old barrel, caramel, polish. On the palate mild-round, allspice, in the finish tannins and raisins.

RumX Adventskalender 2024 Tag 1 Angenehme Süßlich Florale Nase Würzig aber sehr mild. Etwas Seifig Bitter im Mund... etwas Menthol. Alkohol kaum spürbar weder in der Nase noch am Gaumen . Lecker aber etwas Flach .

RumX Advent calendar, day 1. A nose of fruits, vegetal, young wood, dry herbs and a fermented side with varnish. The palate is not up to par and seems diluted at first but then the aromas come back. A smoky side appears with old wood. The finish is rather short but bitter wood lingers quite long. A somewhat unbalanced and too diluted rum for my taste but its nose remains very beautiful.

Blind tasting Rum X Advent Calendar 2024, 1st Advent Definitely a rum from sugarcane juice. I would rather place it at Martinique, well aged (15 years+?), lower ABV starting with a 4. I'm not an Agricole fan, but I appreciate the Advent calendar especially because you try things you wouldn’t otherwise. I quite like this one.

Number 1 of the RumX Advent Calendar 2024. I must say, I really like the nose, wood, barrel, spicy, coffee and for me lots of chocolate. On the palate it falters a bit, doesn't reach the nice nose. Also feel the alcohol is too obvious.

RumX Kalender 2024 Day 1: An der Nase Kräuter, Gras, Holz, Vanille. Schöne Balance, aber recht zurückhaltend. Am Gaumen kommen ein paar Gewürze, Röstnoten ala Guyana sowie eine gewisse Seifigkeit hinzu. Tippe auf Agricole der schon ein paar Jahre auf dem Buckel hat. Eventuell Rhum JM?

Tag 1. RumX Adventskalender Bei der Blindverkostung habe ich schon in die richtige Richtung getippt. Leider ist dieser ganze französische Stil nicht mein Favorit von Profil. Nett ihn probieren zu dürfen, aber ich werde nicht so richtig warm damit. Seit den Velier St.James Tasting bin ich da ein gebrannten Kind.

Day 1 of the RumX Advent calendar: Here is a gentle and elegant entry into the upcoming Advent tastings. Recognizable maturity and associated decent oak influence without drifting into woody bitterness. Through the fine fruit accompaniment of grape and apricot along with subtle tropical fruit aromas, it almost reminds a bit of a Cognac. If the finish were more lasting, I would like it even better, but even so, I really like this drop.

#4537 11.01.2024 My palate is back to normal and actually hyper sensitive at the moment. Preparing for the tasting we have tomorrow. This is also a pretty well balanced rum though a bit light. Medium fruity and a nice balanced palate. The finish is medium long with a surprising nougat finish. Love the floral touch in the profile. Draws nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass has some light coffee and licorice.

Day 2 RumX Advent calendar Classic Agricole profile with plenty of dried fruits and wood influence as well as a good portion of grassiness. Overall a good Agricole where a higher alcohol content would definitely have done well.

My guess is a Clement in the ageing range of an XO or a bit older. The spirit is mainly wood driven, with nuttiness and little else both on the nose and on the palate, which is really thin and bitter. The finish is a bit longer, still not enough to increase my score

Blindverkostung 1.12. 2024 Wow ist der dunkel mit schönen rot-braunen Reflektionen! Nase: auf jeden Fall französischer Stil. Sehr angenehm in der Nase. Viel Frucht, nicht so vordergründig grasig, ein wenig Holz, viel dunkle Schokolade und Walnüsse. Sehr ausgewogen und mild. Am Gaumen ebenfalls mild und wieder sehr fassettenreich und komplex. Getrocknete Aprikose und Fass fallen zuerst auf, außerdem Fasseinflußund leichteBitterkeit (nicht unangenehm). Schöner harmonische Nachklang. Für mich auf jeden Fall ein Agricole, der mit besser gefällt.

Update: Nice agricole but the tannins are too intense for me here, also quite bitter and roasted. Apart from that, cocoa, cinnamon, vanilla, leather, and tree resin. The finish is quite elegant with a medium length and not too thin. Definitely something you have to get into and needs some time to enjoy.

RumX Advent calendar 2025: No. 1 A very nice start to Advent with a very good rum. Beautiful dark color. Spicy influences on the nose and taste with slight peppery notes. That's why I would guess an Agricole here (Martinique?).

Closed on the nose with nice spice and red fruits. On the palate intense cask influence. Feels like a strong red wine or cognac finish. Lots of bitterness. Floral, musty, stern and dry. Finish short and bitter. Old Agricole? I haven't had this profile in the glass before. So hard to say.

Too nutty on the nose, roasted coffee aromas come through in taste and finish. Fruity notes stay more in the background and are mainly present on the palate. Slight medicinal note on the finish. A bit too alcoholic on the nose at first.

Floral, leicht gemüsig (Sellerie), Karamell, Vanille. Leicht im Mund. Niedriger ABV (43%). Viel Karamell am Anfang. Etwas nussig. Leicht säuerlich mit floralen Anklängen. Je länger den Tropfen im Mund lässt umso mehr Holz kommt durch. Leichter holzbetonter Abgang. Tippe auf Agricole. Bally oder J.M.

J. Bally Rhum Vieux Millésime 1993. Alkohol ist sehr gut eingebunden, aber die Abfüllung ist nicht sonderlich komplex. Leicht fruchtig, pflanzlich und Gewürze. Leider hat der Rum auch eine ausgeprägte seifige Note, die mich dann doch etwas stört.

In a blind tasting, you immediately recognize that this is a rare agricole, perhaps even too delicate, but beautifully drinkable. I definitely want more. Wonderful rhum!!

Vanilla, wood, leather and a few younger aromas can be detected on the nose. Wow, the palate is much more present and intense compared to the nose. The 45% are super integrated and hardly noticeable, especially compared to the intensity noticeable on the palate. The finish is dry and long, characterized by leather, wood and pear. A very tasty rum. 88 points.

Blindverkostung; Zunächst stark alkoholisch und muss ein paar Minuten atmen; Danach hochqualitativer Agricole : erdig, würzig , zunehmend Vanille und Karamell in der Nase. Sehr lecker! Antrunk süßlich aber angenehm, erdig würzig , Kräuterig . Langer Abgang und zunehmend bitter.
