Beenleigh Inner Circle Overproof Traditional Pot Still Rum
Mirabelle, apricot and green apple up front, then it turns spicy and herbal — nutmeg, anise, ginger, young oak. The 57.2% Beenleigh pot still really makes its presence felt; several tasters note it almost veers into a vegetal, Scotch-like or even gin-like place. wow, what an incredibly fruity nose! fresh, fully ripe mirabelle plum and apricot pure, as well as rose petal water, plus a little ginger and nutmeg, subtle pear and ester. The taste is again mirabelle plum and apricot, but also spicy with star anise, nutmeg, vanilla pulp and spicy ginger. Long finish of wood, leather, black tea, as well as rose, ginger and pear. very nice, that's how I imagine it! more of this please!

In der Nase kommt er zunächst sehr frisch daher. Frische von Alkohol und von Zitrusfrüchten. Da ist aber auch etwas gedecktes, seifiges dahinter. Die Frische wird unterstrichen von grünem Apfel und saftiger Birne. Hinten raus ist eine leicht Karamell-Note zu vernehmen. Am Gaumen doch recht würzig. Trotzdem hat er eine bittere frische, wie von Limettenschale. Muskat, Vanille und Lakritz sind dabei. Oh, und es kommt etwas metallisches, leicht seifiges mit Melisse, wie in der Nase. Insgesamt nicht ganz mein Geschmack, aber auch nicht schlecht.

Spannend und anders, würzig und holzig. In der Nase auch pflanzlich-floral und eine ungewohnte Fruchtigkeit. Der Alkohol ist sehr präsent, gleichzeitig nimmt der Rum auch den ganzen Mundraum ein. Nicht schlecht, aber auch kein Highlight. Trotz allem aber eine weitere spannende Ecke des Rums, die die unglaubliche Breite deutlich macht.

Interesting, my first rum from Australia. Unfortunately, not really my thing. Very dry and tastes very herbal, strongly in the direction of a Scotch whisky. So certainly interesting for people with the right taste
