One taster called it "a bit more juvenile in taste. Nevertheless intense." That fits: this DOK is glue, nail polish and solvent up front, with pineapple, green apple and citrus zest coming through after some air. At 60% the alcohol sits well for most, though a few find it thin and edgy. Continental ageing means light oak — the esters run the show.

Favorite DOK, best PLV back then and simply a board!🤙🏼 full broadside of glue and nail polish remover on the nose, plus pineapple, green apple, mirabelle plum, some yoghurt, grapefruit peel, butter brioche and honey banana and salted peanuts... The taste is very smooth, creamy and funky for 60% DOK, with pineapple, fully ripe mirabelle plum, green Granny Smith apple, honeydew melon and salty brioche butter buns or salted pretzels with baked honey banana. Very tasty... In the finish, surprisingly, white chocolate and some toffee are added, plus the pineapple and mirabelle plum again. absolutely terrific! 🙏

Due to the slight dilution quite accessible and "relaxed" for a DOK. Compared to the TRC DOK more fruit and a bit wilder.

8,5:On the nose, the first impression we get are esters, glue, citrus, vegetal and woody notes with pastry, quite funky. On aeration, the wood is spicy with vanilla and clove, roasted, as the rum is fruitier with banana, pineapple and grapefruit...Perhaps we scent some tar or rubber. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is funky, medicinal with esters and glue, full fruity with overripe tropical fruits like pineapple, red fruits and citrus, pear.The wood is roasted with marzipan, honey, spicy, salted pastry, becomes vegetal and astringent. 8,3:The finish is medium long, dry, still medicinal and the wood is smoky, roasted with toffee, confectionery-crunchy bread, pastry, the fruits are same as on the palate... Another 2009 DOK. On the palate, the classic fruit/ester aromas with vanilla and marzipan... they immediately fill the space. I like this intoxicating scent... On the palate, however, it loses me a bit. On one hand, I find the alcohol far from well integrated and on the other hand, it is a bit too edgy on the spicy side. I miss some funkiness, like from TheRumCask or Rumclub. Unfortunately, the finish continues like this.

Powerful Hampden with typical ester richness, but somewhat edgier structure. On the nose fermented tropical fruits, pineapple and glue, accompanied by citrus zest and a light spice. On the palate intense, fruity and dry with distinctive funk, wood and a hint of vanilla. The alcohol brings pressure but remains noticeable. The finish is long, warm and slightly bitter. An expressive but not quite balanced Hampden with classic character.

On the nose, a full blast of glue, nail polish remover, solvents, marzipan, and esters. Fruity notes hold back a bit. On the palate quite intense and slightly astringent with metallic/medicinal aftertaste, which I don't like so much. Overall still a good DOK with well-integrated ABV.

Great DOK! If you love esters, nail polish and tropical fruits, you will definitely enjoy this. From nose to finish, pineapple is especially present, alongside citrus fruits and spices. Alcohol is very well integrated.

27-09-2025 - Rate 8.3 This was one of my first Hampden loves. Young DOK, high ester and funk. I really liked is back in the day when i tasted if. Not the same love anymore. Still enjoying it when I taste it. But not the same. A lot of rum under the bridge

The CDI and Wild Parrot bottlings are similar. Very fruity without being too extreme. Quite a lot of acidity. More wood influence than the Letter of Marque, for example. Both are very well balanced. The WP has a more pronounced smoky note. Therefore rated slightly lower.

Yes, it's clear from the moment it's poured that this is a high-ester Hampden. The tropical fruit basket subtly fills the entire room. On the palate, the full blast of Hampden, pineapple and marzipan fight for supremacy and bear witness to the DOK Mark. There is also a slight bitterness, but otherwise it is less brute than you would think for a DOK. The alcohol is pleasingly well integrated, and nothing else bites here either. The color is rather pale, but the taste is already nicely mature. The finish is of medium length with tropical fruit and a slight bitterness. DOK is not necessarily my favorite brand, but this rum is a lot of fun.

Really extreme DOK, the continental ageing gives little barrel influence, and it reveals itself just after a while. The beginning is esters and nail polish driven, it takes 20 Min in the glass to have some tropical fruits and pastry. Drink side is almost salty, again really esters driven. A not as pleasant as the nose and this reduces my overall score.
