Nice nose with notes from the cask, dried fruits and some glue. Very enjoyable. Complex and elegant on the palate. Presenting dried fruits and lots of spices (cinnamon) in an excellent balance. Influence from the cognac cask is noticeable. Alcohol is very well integrated.

A pleasantly restrained nose with light sticky and fruity aromas! On the palate, the rum is soft, warm and mild! The alcohol is perfectly integrated, dried dates and soft wood, as well as pleasant allspice spice spread out. The finish is relatively short with light barrel and date aromas, a successful rum

Edit: One of my first Savanna in a glass and still one of the best I've had so far. As Savanna is a new area, I find it very successful and the alcohol is very well integrated. The only possible criticism is that the finish could be a little longer

The first Savanna unshared cask for Germany. The cognac cask influence is clearly noticeable. Overall, the rum feels very harmonious and well balanced. On the palate oily in consistency with very well integrated alcohol. The finish is medium length. Delicious!

Quite different in character to the unshared for Germany from 2023, this one has a well-balanced, not too overloaded cognac finish and is slightly ahead of its successor in terms of taste. A beautifully harmonious single cask from Savanna. Good balance, rather dry. Alcohol well integrated.

4 Savannas in a cross-comparison: Winner is the CDI 2007, nice intense GA profile with light wood and good balance. Close behind is the Rum Nation with a similar profile but a bit more one-dimensional. Third place and winner of the heart: Easy Peasy from Swell, despite its young age clearly a GA with everything that comes with it, surprisingly easy to drink and round. Far behind is the Unshared for Germany, quite boring in direct comparison. But it is also a Traditional.

8,5:On the nose, grapes first bump into our nosetrils, with wood and cognac notes, solvents, joined with a banana and yellow fruits. The wood is roasted with leather, caramel, dark chocolate and nuts, spicy with vanilla. On aeration, it becomes fruitier with citrus, cherry, dried fruits, some other tropical fruits and a bit minty. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is rather intense with roasted, spicy wood and notes like petrol, rubber and plastic, luckily quickly balanced with honey and fruits like raisins and tropical with banana, roasted notes with caramelized, salty nuts, dark chocolate...Pure caramel is shows up, vegetal and minty molasses, some licorice. 8,5:The finish is long, dry, balanced with roasted wood notes and dried, tropical fruits, citrus, some tobacco, spicy and tannic, a tasty crunchy bread note joins the game after a while.. A Savanna more rooted in the traditional style. Notes of vesoul and caramel mingle with spices (pepper, ginger), tobacco and elegant oak. Then come more pronounced fruity notes of dried fruit, citrus, yellow and exotic fruits. A profile that demands a little more attention. On the palate, this is a balanced, relatively accessible rum. Dried fruit, exotic fruit and citrus combine with spices, toasted notes and wood to create a winning and effective combination. Notes of tobacco, flowers, caramel and honey add roundness. Alcohol is well integrated. The finish is drier and loses aroma. Roundness gives way to bitterness, with notes of nuts, licorice, tobacco, spices, chocolate and wood. Fruit takes a back seat. A traditional but well-crafted profile, quite elegant, complex and accessible at the same time.

Crosstasting of two Savanna Unshared Cask for GER: Vanilla, caramel and wood are very present from nose to finish. Tropical fruits recognizable but not further identifiable. The influence of Cognac is interesting but suppresses the typical Savanna aromas. Alcohol very well integrated.

You can really strongly notice the influence of the Cognac cask here, but for me it's still a harmonious mix of dried fruits and spices. Plus some wood with moderate sweetness. Alcohol is well integrated.

With this rather shy smell, I wouldn't have expected such a tension arc in the mouth. The transition from the oak-dominated character through the cognac cask to sparkling spice moments to an increasingly sweet-fruity mix with caramelized pecans I find really successful. Too bad it ends relatively quickly and unspectacularly after swallowing.

Tried as a 5cl sample.Abgefahren great nose, fruit gum, gingerbread, banana, tropical fruit, vanilla, wood, slightly rusty and nen smell, which I know but despite headaches can not assign. The smells so good, you can just sit with it for an hour and just smell it. Taste then quite different than the nose suggested it, rather on the spicy side and compared to Savannas I have tried so far quite discreet fruit. Still clearly recognizable and nicely harmonious. Beautiful natural sweetness, licorice, wood, tobacco, dark chocolate. Alcohol is well integrated. Taste not quite as outstanding as the smell, but still not to be underestimated. I really like this one. Savanna simply has it.

Excellent. A very fruity, fresh, even floral nose. The palate remains fruity but more on caramel and woody aromas. The finish, of medium length, reminds me of an orangette (candied orange peel coated in dark chocolate). At the release price, it's an excellent value for money.

Ordered as a sample with many others without knowing much about it. Tastes like Rhum traditionel with cognac storage. So no Savanna with long fermentation. Reminds me somewhat of the Isautier 15 from Velier. Good molasses rum without the typical characteristics of the funky Savannas.

Nose: fresh, citrus plus a tart-sweet caramel note. Cherry, grape and green apple. Dry wood and vanilla. A pleasantly complex and beautiful fragrance. Palate: spicy, woody, slightly salty. Lemon zest and a light caramel note with vanilla. The cognac barrel also comes through. ABV suits it well... Sufficiently complex but not complicated. Liked.

The nose is very very gentle. Notes of spices and tobacco. Hint of fruit. On the nose, so gentle it's almost indistinct. On the palate, spices appear first, especially pepper, later intense cognac. The finish is very short. Personally, I prefer more intense experiences.

Color: Orange-brown Aroma: Fruity aroma of tropical fruits, spices and wood. Ripe pineapple, papaya, apricot jam, vanilla, white mousse, sandalwood and cognac. Taste: Sweet, creamy and spicy in the mouth. Spicy and fruity-woody on the swallow with pineapple, caramel, tobacco and cognac. Finish: Long Spicy, hot and woody. Dry. 88 points

This Savanna is a solid rum, with notable aromatic concentration and very interesting integration of alcohol both on the nose and on the palate. The balance, however, is better during tasting, with a rounder profile that nicely compensates for the overly pronounced polished note on the nose. Nothing to trouble a HERR or a Grand Arôme, but still an interesting rum nonetheless 👌🏼

My RumRatings review from 4 years ago: The rum is very pleasant on the nose. Caramel and roasted vanilla are very prominent. But also wood and some solvent. A bit of fruit combined with cognac aromas. A nice nose. On the palate, the aromas repeat. Caramel and vanilla pair with lots of wood and tannins. Here comes the bitter chocolate. The rum gets spicier and drier towards the finish, which for me is a bit too short. The Savanna Unshared Cask is a tasty rum, but it didn't impress me much. The wood influence is very high. Given the hype, I expected a bit more. The price is perhaps a bit high and the sample sufficient.

Probably not a classic Savanna, but I’m glad to still have a bottle of it in storage :) For me, spice, tropical fruits, and notes from the Cognac cask like vanilla dominate here. Unexpectedly, the rum also brings slightly green notes, making it feel a bit fresher. (09/26)

Convinced by this UC which works very well! While I am often disappointed, this one has all the gourmet markers of Savanna on the nose (candied olives, ripe yellow fruits). The palate is complex, lots going on, gourmandise on the fruits balanced by a dry finish not unpleasant reminding of some touches of cognac. It's a very nice product.

Unusual profile for Savanna. Few of the known markers, but a slight tendency towards long-aged Spanish rum (without sugar). Not bad but not what I expect from Savanna.

Mild, but less tasty Rum from the Savanna distillery are some of my favorites. I recommend everyone try especially the ester-rich pieces like Grand Arome or HERR. You haven't felt so much fruit in a few drops of liquid for a long time.
