Bacardi Carta Blanca
A neutral, vodka‑like white rum that RumX members mainly use as a cheap mixer. Functional in simple cocktails, but thin, sharp and largely joyless when tasted on its own.
Party drinkers or casual mixers who want an inexpensive, neutral white spirit to disappear into cola, mojitos or fruity cocktails without adding much rum character.

How does Bacardi Carta Blanca taste?
Neutral workhorse for basic mixes
If you just need cheap neutral booze for rum‑and‑coke, this works; if you enjoy characterful white rums like Havana Club 3 or Burke’s, you’ll likely find this disappointingly flat.
Neat rum drinkers or enthusiasts seeking flavor, body or complexity; anyone who dislikes sharp, medicinal alcohol notes even in mixed drinks.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 25,000 bottlings, 280,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 50,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.

I don't understand the low ratings. Yes it's a very standard rum, quite basic, but I find it to be perfectly fine. It is a little weaker than other rums at 35%, but otherwise quite decent.
I like this rum
Good for mixing cocktails
This rum was never intended to be sipped neat. It is a pure mixer and so I will review it for how it was intended to be used. The idea behind carta blanca, as the name also implies, is to filter out as much as possible of the color and flavors of the rum to create something very neutral, almost like a vodka of rum of sorts. This allows other ingredients to shine, makes flavor prediction far easier for mixologists, and creates an excellent base for various rum infusions. As such this product is a great success. As a sipping rum this is a 2, as a mixer about 5 (somewhat overrated b/c lack of flavor starts to hold you back pretty quick) but as an infusion tool it’s a 7.
