02.10.2016 - 03.10.2016 A great extended weekend with rum friends. This was a nice event and lots of space between the tables. Only problem was the level of English at some of the exhibitors. I will start with the rums we brought ourselves and then add the ones we tried at the event. Notes Dark in colour. Nose Roasted wood, fruity, alcoholic, earthy. Palate Light, sweet, tobacco, dried fruit, honey, light leather, medium dry. Finish Medium long, wood, dried fruit, sweet, medium dry, fruits.

The nose of this agricole rum from La Palma is very round with delicious aromas. This 20-year-old rum was aged for another 2 years in Spanish red wine barrels, which does it good, even if it adds a distinct sweetness. Another weak point is the 42% and the price is rather high. The 1994 version is spicier/sharper, this version tends strongly towards red wine.

Despite the long aging, hardly woody. However, most of the notes that characterize a rum made from sugarcane juice have been quite muted over time. Very sweet, although according to the statement at the booth, no sugar was added. The red wine finish is not very intrusive. Actually not a bad entry-level rum that somehow connects the agricole and molasses worlds.

For me more in the category of beginner rum. The finish is quite short. Nevertheless not bad, but currently doesn't match my profile. Definitely a nice mixer.
