I was so lucky to try this one the other day and I found it to be so good that I have ordered one. A truly complex and well balanced rum in my mind and a true winner. Fruity with a touch of oak and sweet on the tongue. A true master piece ad I love the decanter, which looks very fragile.

Very nice Cuban indeed. Decent complexity despite low ABV. Excellent company for a nice cigar.

8,2:On the nose, the first impression we get is roasted with coffee, cocoa, nuts, caramel, it is woody with vanilla, molasses with licorice, herbal/vegetal notes as thyme, black tea, perfumed, there is some orange peel, a bit spicy, tropical fruits are stronger when we air the rum a bit, with pineapple, peaches and ripe bananas. It becomes waxy and flowery, as some tobacco is moist. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is soft, delicious, with roasted and dry wood, chocolate, caramelized vanilla and syrupy maple, a bit spicy, with dark licorice molasses, resinous, there are peanuts, nuts. There are tropical and dried fruits, banana is ripe, some citrus. When nicely rested, we could notice some brine, as some eau de vieux pear notes come out. The notes similar to brandy or calvados finish arise... 8,1:The finish is woody, dry, the roastedness wanes a little, the wood is still spicy, molasses are still dark with licorice, caramel stays, there are dried fruits, brandy or calvados notes in the end....

The ratings for this rum are currently very mixed. That's why I was very excited before the tasting. The presentation with the carafe and the chest is really great. There's not really much to say about the rum itself. A little vanilla, very light, sweetened and a little unspectacular. It's certainly a good rum for many beginners as the alcohol is very well integrated. But at this price, I simply expect a little more. Thanks for the sample, though, Leo. It's been on my list for a while :)

I'm torn as to how I should find this one. For the low ABV, it can already do a lot, better than expected. But I would still put it in the easy sipper category with a small dosage. I think it would go quite well with a cigar. But completely over the top for the price. Too bad that Lot-NAS was faster, otherwise I would have packed the box from Leo for the kids.

The packaging is definitely worth the price. It's not much good as a rum, but I didn't have high expectations. The rum is not intended for advanced connoisseurs, but probably more for pirate collectors and exclusive hotel bars overseas. The rum itself is Spanish and unremarkable. Somewhat very woody, noticeably sweetened. Quite nice overall. Never worth the price in life, of course.

Very thin, flavorless, column profile, some wood, not much else.
