Overall a very special Agricole quite far from the ones from the Caribbean, thanks to the medicinal nuances together with the strong aromas and tastes of Cognac. This rum from the Savanna distillery in Reunion is a 7 yo single cask distilled in their Creol still in 2002 that after some rest was put in a ex-Cognac cask in 2004 and bottled in 1032 numbered bottles at ABV 46% in 2012, so it’s in fact 7 years and 5 months old.

27.06.2020 Tasting at the office with my colleagues. Notes Light to medium dark in colour. Nose Light, sweet, fruity, light wood, faint cognac, light smoke,, citrus Palate Light, sweet, fruity, light wood, citrus, cognac, light medicinal, faint chocolate, faint strawberry. . Finish Medium long, cognac, light wood, light citrus, faint chocolate, light medicinal.

Overall very harmonious agricole but very easy drinking. In the taste and aftertaste, the fruity notes clearly fade. A lot of cognac influence, which I like.

Beautiful Savanna agricole, soft and delicate. Lots of finesse. The cognac has left its mark on the juice. Very fruity and floral on the nose, with a good whiff of cognac too. On the palate, there's a hint of spice, but also lots of fruit, notably banana and mango, and a hint of vanilla. Medium finish. Would certainly have deserved a few degrees more, but it doesn't bore you.

Color: pale gold Smell: Smells of vanilla, fudge, and grain. Slightly sweet and fruity like sweet banana. Actually doesn’t smell like a typical Agricole. After a few minutes, aromas of dates replace banana and now also Agricole. Taste: Mild in the mouth, slightly sweet and creamy. When swallowing, subtly spicy with some toffee and sugarcane juice. Finish: Medium length Dry, spicy, and woody. Slightly bitter and metallic in the aftertaste. 87 points
