One member called it "like to drink a meadow full of flowers" — and that floral, grassy side is really the heart of this cane-juice rum from Chamarel. Expect pineapple and apricot up front, a light sweetness, then pepper and young oak on a slightly bitter, medium finish. Pleasant and fresh, but several tasters found it a touch simple and short.

11.10.2025 Retasting at the Whisky Live Hamburg. Still like it a lot. --------- I have bought the entire series and overall I think they're pretty good. The fruit is there from opening the bottle and it has a fresh grassy nose with a roasting note to it. The palate has less fruits but a flowery touch instead and it's lightly sweet with a hint of licorice. The finish is medium long and spicy with caramel. Price to quality is good.

Sample bottled at the Kirsch stand at the Pueblo del Ron in Nuremberg. I think it's by far my least favorite of the three in the series with the Monymusk and the Privateer. Agricole just isn't as much my thing as molasses is.

First time tasting a Charamel!I found an interesting rum with very pronounced pepper and floral notes with the particularity that both the nose and the taste leaves you with a fresh and pleasant aroma.Overall not very complex but it surprised me pleasantly!

Very pleasant Chamarel. Nutty, flowery, floral, and slightly spicy woody bitter. Rose meets hazelnut, licorice, and young oak wood. Alcohol could be a bit better integrated, plus a light nougat sweetness and bitter hay note on the finish. Also reminds me a bit of Calvados or Williams pear.

Tasted on Saturday as the first rum at "Pueblo del ron" 2024 and I don't know if it's because of my still virgin palate today, but this rum really grabs me. Gentle on nose and palate, hardly grassy (important to me), dry feeling, alcohol well integrated. Maybe overall almost a bit boring, but maybe exactly why it's the right starter today, I like it.

In the nose, grassy tones mix with sugarcane, citrus and something a bit strange, probably like mustiness and leather. The taste is quite moderate. Nothing really stands out. Mostly the barrel influence, vanilla and a bit of nuts. Very abrupt finish.

Tasted after the rather sweet chamarel xo, I'll have to try it again in another context. Light, rather fresh nose. Some notes of cane. Pleasant but lacks a little personality. On the palate, the attack is also light but pleasant, with a few spicy notes that give way to the wood of the barrel. Long barrel finish, a little too bitter for my taste.

Immature peach Grassy Muscat Cinnamon I want add to this baked salmon, lemon and herbs. To be honest with all respect to VELIER, but I will prefer distillery bottlings. For me basic XO version easy beat this release from Velier.
