#5023 03.01.2025 Sampling a bit at home after a few days of work. Nose Light, faint wood, sweet, light caramel, spice, light orange, light banana. Palate Light dry, wood, light roasted, spice, faint rubber, light chocolate, dried fruit, faint mint, light orange. Finish Medium long, light spicy, wood, faint rubber, light chocolate, faint caramel, light mint. The empty glass has light tea, faint peach and light herbs.

It's solid, but not a rum that stays in your memory for long. Vanilla, wood, and light bourbon cask notes come across pleasantly and fairly cleanly integrated, but overall it lacks some depth and punch. Still good to drink neat, especially because it doesn't taste artificially sweet and is fairly priced.

Nice nose, you can literally smell the old bourbon barrel in the cellar of a tropical wooden colonial house, but nothing more. A disappointment on the palate. Flat, ordinary. Unfortunately, the highest of feelings that the local bar has to offer - also in terms of the glass. Available in the supermarket for around 35 EUR. Bar price? I'll be surprised ... Supplement: Bar price ended up being almost 5 EUR for 4 cl, which this rum is definitely not worth. But I found it today in a liquor store as a shelf warmer for about 14 EUR/bottle, which is more reasonable.

This rum is slightly fruity on the nose and palate. You can also taste that it has matured in a bourbon cask. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite suit my taste. I don't like this fruity taste that much.

Pleasant unobtrusive fruity floral aroma with hints of herbs and eucalyptus. The taste is similar. Quite a worn barrel for a rum that's only 3 years old. For me it's a kind of easy-going, relaxed rum. This could also appeal to beginner rum drinkers etc. Edit: slight rating correction

This New Grove Bourbon cask rum is an easy first-price find in supermarkets. The nose, pleasant, soft, and caramelized, reveals Bourbon notes. The palate is dominated by wood and spices. The medium to short finish is warm, woody, and spicy.

Price-performance ratio is right. Lots of vanilla and wood influence. Strongly reminiscent of Central America. But otherwise way too watered down. But there is much better from the distillery. Not a must-try.

Now that's good. I thought I wouldn't like it since it's a finish in a barrel that contained bourbon. We have this slight bourbon smell on the nose and slightly on the palate but it's really not unpleasant. It has a pleasant lemon balm water side on the palate, a little vegetal side. The finish is short but focuses on chocolate, caramel, and a perfume, candy side that I can't describe but like.

It's a good rum from Mauritius, which drinks very well on site in the heat and humidity. However, it's quite simple and my friends have accustomed me to 'competition' rums. But for the price, it's very reasonable.

Interesting piece. Very fresh fruity, sort of 🍋 & 🍊 👃 as well as 👅. Lightly sweet on the palate and very fresh and fruity in the 👃. The taste however is more grassy, herbal like, eucalyptus with mint. The finish is medium long with bitter aftertaste. Overall a nice rum but I wouldn't go for a bottle (I originally intended to).

Sample no.7 of the 24 days of rum calendar 2022. Very fruity on the nose with a hint of bourbon. Taste is more bourbon than fruit at first but then the fruits and spices comes after a few seconds. A sharp alcoholic bite with a warm feeling on the palate that stays for a while.

Gourmand like a molasses, good in its kind because without the complexity of an agricole. Nose with orange aroma, very soft, very good. Palate good, wood, burnt caramel, alcohol well integrated. Medium length orange-vanilla.

I have a sample of this rum and when you smell it, it immediately reminded me Menthos. It is pure menthol with spicy. The taste is very fresh and the body goes to the spicy tones, but the aftertaste is mild and minty. This would be a perfect product as a mouthwash! As a rum, I have to rate it with 5.
