Overall a really great, complex and well balanced rum. The brand Doorly’s was founded in 1908 by Martin Doorly & Company, but is since 1992 owned and some years later produced by Foursquare and Mr. Richard Seale. This 14yo Doorly’s is a blend of Pot and Column distilled rum. The rum has been aged in ex-bourbon casks plus that a small part of the blend was aged in ex-Madeira casks.

A dramatic step up for me from the 12 year old Doorly’s. A great sipper and should be a bar staple. Nose is sweet with caramel, orange, and vanilla. The mouth is woody and spicy, more barrel influence than some of the ECS releases but works really well. Medium length finish, with dark chocolate, spice and a sweet sugary overtone. The ABV works well, not too strong but enough power to keep it interesting. Not as good as the best of the ECS but a legitimately enjoyable rum

The nose on this rum is really nice and it may remind you of some of the Last Ward rums, not as complex but very well balanced. The palate has been perfectly rounded with the perfect proof. So no alcohol dominance but a perfect balance. The orange really shines through and the price to quality is very good.

Due to the 48% and the longer aging, this rum gets that certain something that its younger brothers still lack. Extremely round nose with the typical FS notes, vanilla, milk chocolate with lots of fruit must be especially highlighted. Definitely the best representative from the Doorly range for a still good price. You can even say it almost reaches ECS level.

Not the most complex Foursquare, but better than some ECS bottlings. For me it remains the best Foursquare easy sipper with very good PLV. Can also impress in cocktails. Remains a permanent fixture in my bar. For the asking price of around 70€, this is an outrageously good and drinkable Foursquare!

... Foursquare is a distiller from Barbados producing amazing rums for everyday drinking. It's a rum that will be appreciated especially by Rumarians who are fed up with sugar and are looking for a smooth, sweet rum full of coconut, vanilla, chocolate and caramel. Just pleasant and not aggressive flavours.

I know a lot of eyes will roll at seeing such a high rating for such an affordable, easy drinking rum but I stand by this. This rum is so drinkable, so enjoyable and yet still offers an elevated experience. This is the ultimate barometer and bridge rum. On the nose and palate this one is sweet, pleasant, oaky, fruity and tropical. Can you find ‘better’ - surely. Can you find better value - doubtful.

After discovering the 12-year-old as a sample, I decided to buy the 14-year-old. I was right to do so, as the extra 2 years give it much more depth. On the nose, as on the palate, there's a certain paradox: a rather acrid first impression (tannin, chili pepper) that quickly fades to pleasant coconut-caramel aromas. The medium finish confirms the woody-chocolate character. Very good value for money. I really like the packaging too

9:The nose is soft and velvety. As in a milk chocolate, one guesses a heavy and deep texture, a velvet with comfortable folds. The fruits take the lead, with orange peel in the lead, with exotic fruits in syrup caught in its patina. With aeration, the soft, full wood offers us notes of tobacco, mellow and toasted coconut. Its white fibre is a fleshy, caramelised juice. The toasted oak brings a little frame and character with time, this is a complete rum that will be hard to resist.Some glue on the nose😉. 9:On the palate, the rum is balanced and flavoursome. The woody concentration abounds with aromas of cocoa, toasted coconut, dark vanilla and sweet oak. The spices are taut, flavourful, like a variety of rich, exotic peppers. 9:The finish gives way to velvety fruit, candied orange peel and dark chocolate. Very fruity on the nose, some raspberry and pineapple. A little orange with oak and tar. On the palate it’s Vanillasauce, over caramelized pears, coconut, sweet spice, orangezest,quite roasty with oak, a hint of tar. The finish disappoints a bit for me. This is where it’s falling off against the better stuff from foursquare. Very nice casual sipper, also great in Mojitos. Wish they wouldn’t have reduced the abv. Coming back to this after drinking most of the bottle I have to give this a markup to 82.

The most elaborate Doorly's of the classic range. If the nose remains on typical notes of cocoa, caramel, wood and tropical fruits, it remains more subtle and complex than its predecessors. The same flavors are clearly visible in the mouth and remain quite pleasant. The finish adds a subtle tobacco note. A good reference to introduce to Barbados.

Pleasant to drink. Some really nice notes of vanilla, caramel, coconut, orange peal in the nose. With a sweet start, it’s dry, balanced with some Vanilla, Cocoa, Oak, some fruits in the mouth. Chocolate, vanilla, oak, tobacco and dried fruits for the finish. Btw. it haven‘t the dominant wood smell/taste like a classy foursquare. Value for the money = Very very good

A solid Foursquare that invites sipping and mixing. It combines the classic aromas of caramel, coconut, light wood, vanilla, bourbon and a bit of spice. The reduction of alcohol fits. Soon there will be a Corn n‘ oil and Riyal Bermuda Yachtclub. Let's see how it presents itself there.

This is a lovely foursquare, one of the better rums for the Doorlys range they say. It's the perfect everyday sipper for me at the perfect strength. Lovely nose. On the palate it's typical foursquare, vanilla, caramel, tropical fruits like banana and caramel. True 14 years of tropical ageing. It is satisfyingly integrated and has a lovely complexity. Give it a try I reckon, it's worth having a bottle in the home bar.

the bourbon notes do not come through here as strongly as in other FS, but somehow floral (something better I can not think of right now), but also 'classic' coconut, orange peel and a fruity sweetness. The impression continues on the palate, and ends with a chocolaty-roasty finish.

Oh, that's really nice. A really, really good PLV. If you're looking for something for a Sunday evening, this is the one for you. A great nose with lots of wood and caramel and a wonderful taste where you can hear the open fire crackling on your tongue. Round, beautifully complex, simply successful. A rum that never lets you down and never disappoints, like a good friend! *sip*

Compared to the 12-year-old, this is a whole different ballgame. I get glue notes without them being unpleasantly dominant. The learning takeaway is more about how much rum can develop nuances through long aging compared to the 12-year-old, if you lock it away for a few more years. But it's definitely complex!

I was very pleasantly surprised by this Doorly's 14 yo. I found a real complexity and interest in it that the XO and 12 yo bottles don't have (although I liked them too). I enjoyed finding the usual Barbados notes in an easy-drinking profile.

This rum is complex. The nose is slightly alcoholic, fruity, spicy, also a bit of glue can be smelled. The taste is somewhat sharp-edged and floral, caramel, vanilla and brown sugar can also be tasted. The finish is accompanied by tobacco, cloves and leather.

Vanilla, oak, coconut, and spices are excellently balanced without feeling overloaded. It is dry, elegant, and surprisingly approachable. Not an extremely complex exceptional rum, but a well-rounded overall package with great value for money and hardly any weaknesses.

Maybe I've had enough of Foursquare's ECS line, I find all the products really similar and without any truly valid novelty in taste. The magic of the first releases has given way to a flattening that I hope could be the start of something new... or maybe better Doorlys?

This rum is a real pastry. Very round profile on both nose and palate with loads of coconut, vanilla and caramel. Dilution is very well executed with no watery feeling on the palate. This rum is not very complex but these round profiles always get me 😋

For the price of around €50, I finally treated myself to the spearhead of Doorly's. A good easy skipper and a worthy representative of Foursquare. Nice balance of fruity notes (coconut/orange) and spicy wood and cocoa, both on the nose and on the palate. The only downside is the somewhat thin mouthfeel with tasting sips, where you can notice the dilution. For the standard price, I'd rather get a 0.5L bottle of RA.

Nice dark colour. On the nose: woody, balanced. Mild. Taste: Balanced,pretty mild with touch of sharpness on there. The wood from the barrel is there. Vanilla and little bit of toffee. Finish: medium-long. Barrel notes. Dark chocolate notes and some burnt sugar sweetness. Pretty solid balanced rum, but doesnt offer intense flavours or complexity.

I bought this one after very positive experience with its 8 year twin and I am glad I did it. Great Foursquare for the price. I liked the higher ABV, it is well integrated and taste is balanced and rounded. I highly recommend it.

Tasted at the Rum & Co anniversary. As expected, there is a lot of dry spice, no doubt it has been in the cask for a long time. For me personally, this makes it too bitter and woody. Nevertheless, good quality, definitely for whisky lovers.

Very round, balanced rum with a quite pleasing basic orientation. Caramel and molasses, chocolate with strong cocoa notes, vanilla and coconut, also fruits are present. Oranges, a few raisins, tropical hints with mango and papaya. After 14 years there is also a good amount of oak in play, minimal glue notes at the beginning, dry ending with some leather, tobacco and occasional spices towards cinnamon and allspice. In my eyes a tasty, not sweetened and not too heavy blueprint rum, without surprises.

A good Foursquare, nothing special but very good. The nose is nicely round, light, fruity, spicy, notes of orange and vanilla. The palate is a bit less complex and round than the nose, but with good taste, woody-spicy, distinct orange and vanilla. The finish is nicely round and intense but with this alcohol content the alcohol should be better integrated. Anyway, it's a nice drink for a good price-performance ratio.

The price initially surprised me a bit (about 800 CZK increase compared to the 12YO) and the aging period is "only" two years longer. However, the difference in taste is really big.

This is actually what I would want from a standard bottling coming from a distillery. This is very solid and on paar with a lot of indie cask strength bottlings. Very few off notes and a high drinkability .
