Velier Bielle Rhum Rhum Libération Integrale 2012 2007
Near-universal love here, with only a couple of tasters calling it a touch tame or "curious" for their palate. Most people find a cane-juice agricole packed with dried apricot, peach iced tea, caramel, vanilla and roasted oak. Cask strength at nearly 60%, yet the alcohol reads remarkably integrated. Many add a few drops of water and say it opens up fruitier. One of the standout Libérations for fans.

Clear, powerful Agricole with a typical Rhum Rhum profile. On the nose, fresh sugarcane, herbs, citrus, and a bit of wood. On the palate, straightforward and intense with green cane, spice, a slight earthy note, and subtle vanilla. The nearly 60% ABV packs a punch but feels balanced. Overall, a young, well-made Libération Integrale, full of character and clean.
Review by Joachim Guger
Wonderful Agricole! Dried fruit, almond, lots of spices. Very complex, very well integrated alcohol, needs a few drops of water. I can still remember it being priced at 120€ in the specialist store on Stephansplatz in Vienna. I ended up buying the normal version for €80. I wish I had... Edit: I love dried apricots (+2 points).

Great masterpiece by Luca Gargano and Capovilla! Truly extraordinary! A perfect balance of flavors and total respect for the sugarcane both in distillation and aging in barrel!

I was looking forward to tasting this rum, praised by many enthusiasts. A nose of blackened banana, wet wood, caramel and vanilla. A two-masted sailing ship en route to Europe with its cargo of bananas and caramel. The palate is grandiose, with an unimaginable depth of bitter orange, caramel, banana, wet wood and a very light saltiness that corroborates the idea of a two-masted sailing ship. The length is incredible, with all the aromas announcing themselves and then slowly diminishing. You want more. What a rum!

Excellent rhum rhum! Reminiscent of high-end peach iced tea. Complex, spicy and yet round.

Integrale tasting 2024: In direct comparison with the 2015, slightly more intense on the nose, with identical aromas. Seems more powerful. Then again a real bomb on the tongue. But the alcohol is more present than in the 2015. Nevertheless, perfectly integrated. Complaining at a high level. The finish feels longer than that of the 2015....gleichstand

A gourmand, powerful and complex Agricole. Surely the best Libération.

Wow. Cross of Agricole and light esters on a Barbados creme brulee bed. Nose is a 99, palate still very very good and brilliant, but the nose is my Olympus
Review by Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰
This one is far better than its watered down counterpart. The ABV becomes it very well. Fruity and spicy with smoked oak and nuts.

Warm, enveloping, full-bodied and spicy, an agricole with a superb and complex style, the work of a master like Capovilla who produces a unique and unrepeatable product, drinking it is like being embraced -------------------------- Re-tasting: I must say that the first time I tasted this rum it was my first overproof and the first of high quality, so I was extremely surprised giving it a 9.5. Now I re-taste it after years and on the nose it is still explosive and superlative with damp wood, barrel, spices (nutmeg), burnt sugar, tropical fruits (pineapple) and non-tropical (peach), dried fruit (dates), leather, solvent, vegetal, vanilla, peanuts, bitter cocoa. Initially the alcohol is a bit intrusive, but after letting it breathe it is absolutely magnificent and complex. On the palate it is warm, spicy, with ripe and other dried fruits, barrel, almonds, something salty and smoky/roasted with citrus and tobacco on the very long and persistent finish. It remains a deep and complex pearl. In the empty glass wood, vegetal and matured. Oscillates between 9.2 and 9.1

Wow, what a beautiful smooth rum. First of all, a big thank you to Rumdog, from whom I managed to snag a sample. For me now the best Bielle I've had in the glass. Nicely complex with super integrated alcohol and a nice finish.

9:On the nose, herbaceous sugarcane, roasted, spicy wood with caramel, pastry, nuts, cinnamon, nutmeg, fruits like dried apricots, coconut and citrus fruits, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, barrel impact is strong with leather, chocolate, vanilla, various fruits arise with mango, peaches, apricots and the cane becomes earthy with tobacco, slightly flowery. 9,1:On the palate, the attack is delicious, round and balanced with candied citrus fruits, maracuja and peaches, fresh, flowery and herbaceous sugar cane, as the wood is roasted with nuts, pastry, butterscotch, later cream toffee, leather, spicy with vanilla, salty, the oak becomes toasted, when the rum is oxidized, waxy, the fruits dried with raisins and apricots, some mango comes along, the cane becomes mineral, earthy with tobacco, still fresh with tea. 8,8:The finish is long, less round and complex, dry and tannic, more oaky, the cane is also grassy, the wood roasted, spicy and slightly smoky, the fruits tropical with toasted coconut, yellow and dried

Tasted against RX24702 from Distilia and RX862 from Velier. On the nose, I can't quite decide whether I prefer the drier Distilia or the fruitier Libération Integrale (the Vittoria Capovilla clearly only gets bronze here). The surprise on the palate: I actually like the Libération Integrale a little better than the, yes, more complex Distilia because of its natural sweetness like peach or apricot jam. Hmm, I guess I'm not just a farmer's palate after all, but also a sweet tooth ... 🫣 🤭

Part 2 of my starter rums after Dry January... and an improvement... the 2012 Bielle is, although quite similar, a bit softer and more complex... you could also say more harmonious... it's just great.
Review by Tschusikowsky
Inviting, complex nose with rich depth. Ripe yellow fruits – especially apple, plum, and a hint of gooseberry – blend with spicy notes of vanilla, tobacco, oak, and some chocolate. The aromas feel harmoniously merged, dense and powerful without ever being intrusive. On the palate: creamy-silky with great texture. The rum lays softly on the tongue. Notes of vanilla pudding, dark chocolate, and ripe fruit. The sweetness is perfectly integrated, and despite cask strength, the alcohol is surprisingly gentle and balanced. A fine freshness and slight spritz add tension in the mouth. Finish: long, warming, and complex. Oak wood, dark spice, and fruity nuances linger for a long time. Conclusion: a dense, harmonious rum with great aromatic power and silky elegance. Outstanding.

What a delicious rum this is! It starts wonderfully smooth, then the warmth slowly emerges, leaving you with a delicious peach iced tea full in your mouth. Very complex and a truly wonderfully long finish. The peach tea flavor lingers for an incredibly long time. Simply quality.

Very interesting and enjoyable bielle. For me, however, it's not quite enough for a perfect rating. The rum was a little too tame for that, both in smell and taste. But that's really complaining on a very high level.
Review by Johannes
Excellent! Complex with perfectly integrated wine barrel influence.

Flo's birthday tasting Rhum Liberation 2024-05-17: Wow, the 2012 Integrale is awesome and at the top of today's tasting. Intense, fruity, spicy, floral. Everything there, very nicely balanced. Thanks to Flo for a bottle from his secret source.

What a slap in the face! I could eat it for hours, it's perfect.

I'm starting the tasting of the 5 Rhum Rhum full proof. 👃 Oh! Clearly the almost 15° extra compared to the reduced version praise this Libération 2012. Elegant wood, beautiful cooked vanilla, kitchen spices (cinnamon, green pepper). Freshness of peach tea. Lovely note of orange marshmallow with little candied lime zest. Slight veil of beeswax and solvents. With time, scents of old Cognac reveal themselves. Concentration and intensity of aromas. A magnificent nose. 😋 Fruity at first (mango, guava, ripe peach this time), the flavors evolve towards a woodiness both fine but assertive (vanilla, roasted nuts, spices, sweet licorice, smoke). Herbal freshness, a bit of sugarcane stalk. Tasty and velvety mouthfeel. ⛳ Very long spicy heat, oak well present, always this note of roasted nuts (almonds and pecans more than classic walnuts). Small presence of fruit sugar caramel, dried fruits. 💡 Well, nothing to do with the reduced versions. This first FP is excellent. 4 more FPs to taste to see who comes out on top.

Very elegant start. On the palate: creamy-silky with great texture. The rum lays softly on the tongue. Notes of vanilla pudding, dark chocolate and ripe fruit. The sweetness is perfectly integrated, the alcohol despite cask strength surprisingly gentle and balanced. A fine freshness and slight spritziness provide tension in the mouth. After about 45 minutes in the glass it opens up and dark chocolate, slightly roasted notes and a little acidity play come through. Brilliant.

Blown away!! This juice is splendid. A flattering and welcoming nose, with fruit, a nice woodiness, a touch of spice and slightly herbal. On the palate you find all that with vanilla and caramel standing out a bit more. A magnificent length, and alcohol particularly well integrated.. you don't feel the almost 60 degrees at all. Big crush on this Bielle ❤️❤️❤️
Review by Righrum
Simply amazing, one of the best rhums and the best Liberation I tried so far. Elegance and balance, with a lot of nutty and chocolate notes. A couple of drops are enough to feel the power and yet the balance of this rum
Review by Fuwi
Fantastic bottling, great Rhum Rhum! For me, this is the masterclass in Agricole! It has everything you hope and expect. Great grassy influences, fresh notes, and grassy aromas that present themselves with herbs and a very rounded overall impression. Plus lots of fruit, a complex profile of peach and cinnamon (?). Fantastic, so much better than its little brother RX250.
Review by rumcokki
An exciting glass, elegant and rustic at the same time, there's tar and a lot of savoriness on the palate, the finish is long and fresh.
Review by Nils123
In my opinion, it really gets going only with some water. Then it really delivers. Without water it is very cask-heavy, but with water much fruitier. The alcohol is not noticeable either undiluted or diluted. 👍
Review by Simon Leroux
Very nice balance between wood and fruits, with the typical citrus of Bielle.
Review by FischeJ
From the open sample. Not as intense as I remember it. I should try it again from a fresh bottle.
Review by Luca
Beautiful rhum that really seems very mature for its young age. It's almost hard to believe that it's only 5 years old. The alcohol is well integrated and the rum is not pungent, rather a little peppery. There are many rather dry aromas with wood and grape. In direct comparison with the Savanna Creol 2005, it falls behind. The Savanna has this olive creaminess that simply lifts it to a higher level. The Bielle can't quite keep up here.

Absolute gem, very rich taste, very long finish. I recommend comparing with Bielle 2012 Brut De Fut 54.6% - very similar ...
Review by Barnagricole
What complexity, it's magnificent. Besides the Bielle markers and release, with a super oily texture.
Review by Adrianv
Very nice nose, caramel, coconut, herbs wood, palate full of peaches, raisins, dried mango, nuts, spice, wood, very smooth and buttered. Very good rhum rhum.
