It's a 25-year Martinique agricole that drinks nothing like grassy rhum — think stewed prunes, plum jam, vanilla and candied fruit, with a syrupy, oily body. Long, spiced finish. At 40% it's soft, and a few tasters found it edges toward "prune syrup" more than a bold rum.

A rum tasted at Whisky Live in Paris at the Fine Spirits Auctions stand. A nose of hemp rope with a pastry and sweet side. Like a touch of cognac. The palate is very sweet, with candied fruit and prunes in syrup. A delicious rum! The finish is long and all the aromas diminish gently, all together. The empty glass is splendid, with candied fruit and bitter herbs. A very good rum, but this vintage seems to me a little too sweet and less interesting than the other vintages I've already tasted.

First buccaneering for me and I have to admit my disappointment after maybe expecting too much... It feels more like a flavored rum in the mouth than a true rhum de dégustation, and I find it really, really expensive at this price! It's not bad by any means, but the expression "prune juice" isn't far from the truth. I don't understand the hype around this "legendary" series.

A mahogany color and a nose of prunes, candied fruit, wood and vanilla..... makes you salivate! In the shower, you're immediately reminded of prunes, which are sweet and candied. The finish is long .... Very long! With prunes and wood. To sum up, it's really very good, even if I'd have preferred something a little more powerful and less sweet, frankly, it's worth the detour. Especially for the taste that lingers on the palate!

Compared to the previous one we just tried this one kicks it up a notch. The nose is fruity with a nice mix of spices and some barrel in the back. The palate is balanced and complex. Slightly sweet with fruits and spices. Lightly peppery with some barrel. The finish is long and intense, lightly sweet with some barrel and vanilla.

Color: Umbra Smell: Mild, sweet and slightly fruity with raisins and plum jam. A hint of coffee and cocoa. Taste: Mild and sweet in the mouth. Still sweet when swallowing, then spicy, heavy and oily. Plum and complex spice aromas (caraway, anise, cinnamon, pepper, cardamom and cloves). Finish: Medium length Spicy but still mild and sweet. Complex spice aromas, especially cinnamon. 90 points

Wow!!! I didn't expect that... I obviously know its reputation but I started tasting it with a positive bias. Big discovery. Not being a big fan of light rum on the nose, I found it good but it lacked a bit of pep. After the first sip, everything revealed itself. The nose could almost remind you of a very old Banadol. It's so balanced, I clearly feel like biting into chocolates sold at markets in the Antilles. I can't believe it. Its reputation is really deserved, very very good rum, I really enjoyed it.

A flibuste in the line of its predecessors. A real treat, the finish on the palate is very soft, moderate and at the same time almost long. Vanilla is omnipresent. Candied fruits and plum come to the surface. Moreover, the prune was present in the first sip then finally gives way to a syrup of great sweetness.

I personally find it far too sweet. I would subscribe to the rumor that prunes were added here during barrel maturation. it's like making syrup from prunes, very creamy & sweet.
