Chairman’s Reserve 1931 - 5th Edition
People who like layered, medium-bodied rum that still reads elegant will get along with this. It's a Saint Lucia blend of pot, column and a bit of cane juice — vanilla, caramel and oak up front, with raisin, orange and a faint minty, eraser note underneath. At 46% it's warm and a touch challenging, but balanced. A small amount of dosing rounds the edges.
- Layered complexity
- Vanilla and caramel
- Balanced oak

Review by Stefan Persson
It’s very complex and it’s no wonder when you know that it’s a blend of two different pot stills distillates, column distillate and also Agricole. The only negative is a little too much alcoholic taste.

This bottling has an ultra-complex bouquet of honey, ripe fruits, vanilla, caramel and oak and in the mouth a nice big fullness with fruity notes and nuts and perfectly balanced wood influence. The finish is perfectly balanced and it is, if anything, a challenging rum, but in a really cool way.

Great rum, like all Chaimans. One of the best distilleries. This one has a lovely vanilla and caramel note, very delicious. You can't really go wrong with Chairmans.
Review by Beancheese
This rum did a nice job of blending pot and column as well as some cane juice to have a solid final product. Nice complexity in this lighter rum bottled at 46%. Loses slight marks for using a small amount of dosing but hard to deny this was a pleasant drink.

Conclusion: Limited sweet rum that tastes ok and pleasant on the nose before. Vanilla, nut, fruit and honey sweetness are among the prominent flavors. Easy sipping.

"I do often feel some rums are trying to much to be different when a more straightforward approach maybe better. Having said that at around £60 if you like this particular very distinctive style of rum then you will find yourself in very safe hands. For me they still haven't..."Read full review →
