Blind tasting: after 5 minutes, put the cap on, nose in deep: slightly acidic, very light ester, nut, various herbs. After 20 minutes of breathing, the ester has intensified a little and is joined by chocolate, wood, grapes & berries with a minimal sweet note - reminds me a little of Ritter Sport Rum Grape Nut. Then pineapple, esters, herbs, medicine and oak on the palate, which leads into the finish, where the Ritter Sport is again to be found, with a faint bitter sweetness. In my view, a Hampden, but not as it should be. Firstly because of the weak ester (presumably from 2000) and secondly because of the chocolate-nut-grape/berry associations. At first, judging by the nose, I would have put the rum after Long Pond. But when the ester became stronger and the herbs faded into the background and were replaced by fruit/pineapple, I couldn't argue with Hampden. Behind this rum I suspect the Adelphi Hampden 2000 with 15 years and 54.3%. All in all, it's a really good rum, but unfortunately it can't keep up with the Jamaican world that I know - but perhaps it doesn't have to, as it is simply a little different and therefore has a unique selling point. Perhaps also a good rum to introduce newcomers to Hampden. 83 points

83 Punkte.
