This 7-year Trinidad molasses rum leans oak and vanilla with a touch of citrus and cocoa, but stays a bit flat, and at 42% the alcohol pokes through for some. Almost boozy but mostly oak and vanilla on the nose. The vanilla gives sweetness but otherwise a fairly dry taste, a little peppery. Fairly short finish. 42% feels a bit low, would probably lift with 50+%. 7.3 out of 10. A rum I pour when I want to drink well without analyzing too much😉

Nice box and worked label. The rum’s aromas stay on a single thread from nose to finish: Woody, vanilla, caramel, a hint of hazelnut. Not bad, but nothing very special either. It’s a good rum for a beginner or as a gift to a novice, because it’s not sweetened or colored.

Alcoholic 👃, nothing special to be found. No fruit, just a little bit of oak and vanilla somewhere in the distance. 👅 offers again alcohol very badly integrated, slight sweetness of oak barrel so vanilla, and maybe cocoa beans at the very far spectrum. Not a fan.

A lot of fruit mixes in the nose and taste. The rum is on the sweeter side but not bad at all. I will definitely be happy to try more from Zaka's countries.
