No question, also a Jamaican and still some fruit detectable, but much less than the two comparison candidates Pellegrini and Duncan Taylor. Instead, my nose picks up the herbs, which were in the background in the other rums, much more present here. Glue, leather, and oak are also found here. On the palate, the ester is not so present either. Herbs, medicine, and anise dominate here alternating with sweet and sour fruits in the background. This rum has a bit more depth and the 62% alcohol is very well integrated – I like it a bit more than the others. A long finish with still somewhat sharp, unruly anise – probably due to the young age – rounds off, or rather "edges," this good rum. 82 points
