Rum Nation Caroni 1999
Sip it neat and give it air: the classic Caroni markers are here — burnt plastic, rubber, tar and smoky oak — with tobacco and a warm, pepper-spiced body at 55%. What sets this one apart is a real sweetness, almost sherried, that rounds off the edges. Several tasters call it a softer, more flattering Caroni; a few purists wish it stayed drier.
The community says- Classic tar and rubber
- Long smoky finish
- But: Too sweet for purists

This is definitely a heavy Caroni, but in a totally different way than the regular one. The nose has the tupivmcsl rubber and fuel and tar to it. There is also a heavy note with alcohol and tobacco and spice with a tad of sherry if you leave it to rest. The palate has some natural sweetness to it with sherry and wine. Rubber and smoky oak and tobacco follows in the next sips. The finish is extremely long and heated from the proof, at the same time heavy and with smoke and tobacco. The following day the glass is heavy with oak and smoke.

Crisp Caroni with subtle sweetness and powerful spices.

Nez Caroni.

A bit too much on the sweet for a Caroni (for me). Still quite enjoyable though!
