Silver Seal Enmore Demerara Rum 1977
"Explosion of plum compote," one member wrote, and that captures this old Enmore well. Burned wood, caramelized walnuts, dark chocolate, tobacco and dried plums, all thick and oily with an almost honey-like texture. Most call it heavy, creamy and endlessly long. The 64.4% is impressively integrated for the strength, though a few still find the heat a touch sharp over that dark sweetness.
The community says- Enormous complexity
- Creamy oily texture
- Endless finish

How does Silver Seal Enmore Demerara Rum 1977 taste?
Aggregated from 48 community reviews.
Heavy, oily old Enmore, endlessly long finish Almost universally loved: deep caramel, cocoa, tobacco and dried fruit with a huge finish. A couple wish the high ABV sat quieter, and some miss a contrast to the heavy sweetness.

Intense spectrum of predominantly cocoa, oak, caramel, tobacco and spices. This is accompanied by subtle mineral notes, hints of dried and yellow fruit and roasted nuts. The aroma spectrum of the heavy sweetness is almost perfectly pronounced, especially on the nose, from caramel to vanilla and fully ripe mango. In the mouth, the high alcohol content is unfortunately a little too noticeable and somewhat overshadows the overall profile. In the end, I feel there is a slight lack of contrast to this heavy sweetness, such as dark fruits or more nuanced spices. Nevertheless, this is still a great distillate.

Incredibly dense and complex aromas on the nose - lots of wood, cherries and roasted aromas. A fantastic, dark chocolate note on the palate, spicy and an exciting (bitter) orange note. There is also smoke and a strong bitter note from the long maturation in wood. Eternal finish. A real firework of aromas!

This rum needs no comment. 😋😋 😋

Lots of molasses, wood and roasted flavors form the Enmore into a great complex rum with a very long finish. The alcohol could be a little better integrated.

I love going to this bar because they have a huge selection of top shelf and super rare rums. This Enmore is just up there with the best Enmore releases. Fruity with nice smoky wood notes and lovely spices. The caramel is very light and more obvious in the empty glass.
Review by LukaŽiga
9,2:On the nose, the first impression we get is a very round rum with roasted wood notes like caramel, Demerara sugar, nuts and chocolate, a bit spicy with vanilla and cinnamon, velvety, buttery with an orange, dried fruits like apricots, prunes and a little varnish. On aeration, bourbon ageing is even more evident with toasted coconut, brioche, cocoa, leather, as a molasses brings us some tea. 9,2:On the palate, the attack is immediately bourbon like, very tasty and round with dried fruits like apricots, prunes, raisins, then orange, a bit later with mango and toasted coconut. Here we have charred wood notes, very creamy with caramel, cream toffee, nuts and dark chocolate, an apple is baked, a bit smoky, spices with vanilla and cinnamon. The molasses is earthy with tobacco, musty. After resting, some menthol arises, the rum becomes a bit bitter, the fruits candied and for a moment some salt is present. 9,1:The finish is long, with dry, spicy and roasted wood notes, a bit bitter, earthy, as the fruits are dried and candied..

On the occasion of my dear wife's birthday, we treated ourselves to this old drop. For me, it could almost have broken the sound barrier. Unfortunately, it is a little too sharp-edged and alcoholic for me, even after a long time. This unfortunately ruins its good, complex aromas for me.

Old, dark Guyana profile with wood, leather, cocoa and lots of tobacco. But anything but dusty. Immediately after pouring, the nose is unexpectedly fruity with prunes - but there are also fresher notes of cherry, orange, even some mango and pineapple. There is also vanilla, varnish, dark chocolate and cinnamon. Also some smoke. The pleasantly high ABV brings the aromas to the nose with plenty of steam. Darker and roastier on the palate with a slight coffee bitterness, a fine sweetness of burnt sugar, soaked prunes, ... a poem.

Wie genial ist das denn ? Diese Abfüllung trifft genau meinen Geschmack ! Himmlisch !

oh my god! Explosion 💥 of plum compot on the first nose, then burned wood and caramelized walnuts. ABV is almost not realizable. Cherry flavors rise after the rum is resting a while in the glass. Palate: Oh, I love these massive falavors. Your grandma’s plum jam forgotten in the oven. Burned, a bitterness from the long time it has been in the cask, oily, it really fills the mouth with all these flavors. And these flavors stay there for an endless finish. Not as complex as the top caronis or these old Long Ponds, but massive. Every flavor, the burned caramel, the plums and cherries, the wood is quite dominant and just massively intense. What a rum! Glad to have a bottle in the shelf. And it still lingers in the mouth after a long time….

Once again a great split from Daniel. Very very cool Demerara Rum. The long maturation in the barrel is well noticeable by woody and spicy influences without being negative. Very pleasant sweetness in the taste and absolute explosion of flavors in the mouth. Lingers for a very long time.

Also warum nur 90 Punkte?

Extrémně bohatý a komplexní nos, plný dřeva, tabáku, kůže a čokolády. Po napití naplní ústa konzistence oleje, která otevře extrémě komplexní chuťovej zážitek. Nádhera!

A really fantastic old Demerara! Strong bitter-sweet mocha, dark dark chocolate, Virginia tobacco, caramelized Demerara sugar, cinnamon, prune, apple and orange and all very concentrated, heavy and oily and yet extremely harmonious. The alcohol integration is very good and the cask influence is surprisingly low for 32y in cask! Unusually sweet and delicious, which I definitely wouldn't have expected! The only thing missing for me would be an aromatic contrast to achieve a little more complexity. But that's complaining on a damn high level!

Tolle Nase. Karamell, Melasse, voll. Im Mund das Gleiche. Richtig schön voll. Karamell und Kakao.

I'm not a Guyana fanboy who likes all of these old bottlings without hesitation, on the contrary, I've also experienced bitter disappointments here. But this rum makes me understand where the hype comes from. It really has everything that a great rum can offer in terms of flavor nuances, plus a great intensity and a wonderfully creamy mouthfeel. All in all: a sensation!

I've been putting this sample off for a long time because I wanted to make time for it. The colour when poured is mahogany, a bit like cherry wood. The aroma reminds me of cherry wood too, with cocoa, oak and toffee. The aroma is very intense, but subtle nonetheless. The taste shows the same thing, subtle strength, toffee, tobacco, dried fruitwood (why do I keep thinking of those cherries?). The finish is very long, dominated by tobacco and wood.

Wood and dark chocolate. Bitter, roasty and heavy. A great rum

.. Enmore - drive distiller, now just a functional distillation device. Probably the only wooden still in the world that is very popular. The Enmore rums have a flavour of ash, leather, heavy wood, which will delight especially the lovers of whiskey. And if in the traditional Guyanese way the producer adds a little molasses to the rum, you have a unique very distinctive and heavy rum in the bottle. One of my favourites.

What a pleasant experience from top to finish this is a burned melange of sugar and wood. Lots of spice and cocoa that turns into dark chocolate on the palate. This keeps up the good experience from start to finish
