This is most likely Versailles. nice one! 50cl but still an ok price.

Me and friends felt there was a fault with this rum. Astringent and not tasty finish. I only really enjoyed the final dram of the bottle, which took a very long time to kill.

Coffee and tonka bean on the nose. Plus inner tubes & pot purri & cream & icing sugar. Palate fluctuates with bitterness of the oak sweating in the tropics, then flipping to tarry herbal sweetness and hints of heathersmoke. Short finish of more herby bitter burnt sugar and cake mix. Very nice.

It reminds me of Port Mourant... I find this rum really good, the alcohol is well integrated, it's very balanced. Not too woody or bitter. Really good.

An 18-year-old Demerara for around 60€ is already a small price sensation. They say it is a Versailles vintage 2001/2002 and that would also be my impression. A Versailles of the light variety: Warm, spicy and very harmonious - unfortunately also a bit thin and not overly complex. A nice everyday rum for a super price!
