Sipped neat, this 18-year Diamond leans dry and herbal: wet wood, a cool eucalyptus-menthol streak, roasted spice and a touch of browned sugar. Several tasters guess a Versailles still, and a few even hear echoes of Port Mourant. The alcohol sits well for 51.3%. An 18-year-old Demerara for around 60€ is already a small price sensation. It is said to be a Versailles vintage 2001/2002 and that would be my impression too. A lighter kind of Versailles: warm, spicy and very harmonious – unfortunately also a bit thin and not overly complex. A nice everyday rum for a great price! Update on the bottlekill 11.10.2024 Still find it very good. The oxidation helped. The color is strong for a continental VSG. I'm still unsure about the still, but your Versailles pencil as PM Anis. +1

Me and friends felt there was a fault with this rum. Astringent and not tasty finish. I only really enjoyed the final dram of the bottle, which took a very long time to kill.

I don't have much experience with Guyana, which can be quite disturbing and difficult to drink. This one is very, very approachable on the nose and taste. There's a touch of damp wood, some spicy minty pep and a touch of burnt sugar.

Little experience in Guyana. This rum is very well balanced, with no unpleasant alcohol notes from start to finish. Beautiful woodiness and freshness on the palate, with a very pleasant hint of eucalyptus. An affordable 18-year-old rum that is very satisfying.

It reminds me of Port Mourant... I find this rum really good, the alcohol is well integrated, it's very balanced. Not too woody or bitter. Really good.

This is most likely Versailles. nice one! 50cl but still an ok price.

Coffee and tonka bean on the nose. Plus inner tubes & pot purri & cream & icing sugar. Palate fluctuates with bitterness of the oak sweating in the tropics, then flipping to tarry herbal sweetness and hints of heathersmoke. Short finish of more herby bitter burnt sugar and cake mix. Very nice.
