Silver Seal Haitian Rum 2004
Smells sweeter than it drinks — the nose promises tropical fruit, pineapple and vanilla, then the palate turns dry, tart and lean. Think green apple, lime and a metallic-anise edge, warm and a touch oily at 51%. One member reckoned you could mistake it for a Hampden; another wished it kept more of the fruit it teases. A dry, ester-driven Haitian for people who like their rum sharp.

How does Silver Seal Haitian Rum 2004 taste?
Aggregated from 28 community reviews.
Dry, ester-driven Haitian, sweet nose, lean palate Most land on likeable-but-restrained: dry, fruity and well-made, though a few find it too thin and lean, with the palate never quite delivering the fruit the nose sets up.

A while back we had a nice Silver Seal tasting and a great evening ended with me being a bit tipsy from a few reruns 😊 This is a really nice release. Dry and fruity with a light woody note and spices. Warm and oily on the palate and it draws really nice curtains in the glass.

Nose: initially quite alcoholic, once this has faded it comes across as very dry and tartly fruity. Green apple, red currant and somewhat sweeter lime, like kumquat. It becomes increasingly sweet in the direction of sugar syrup and takes on a slightly metallic note with a hint of aniseed. Palate: spicy, dry and metallic. Contrary to what the nose suggests, not as fruity-sweet. Tart green apple, lime and reminiscent of dry white wine or even sake. The spiciness is a mixture of caraway and aniseed. Becomes a little more bitter towards the end and still slightly aniseed. Overall a little disappointing, as it lacks depth and is a little too "Spanish" for me.

Could easily be mistaken for a Hampden. Very dry, but good to drink. So not my thing, but good as a sample. But a must for Hampden freaks.

Very drinkable but unfortunately a bit thin & little fruit in the taste that you are already looking forward to in the nose...
