Day 7 of the Samples de luxe calendar. A Caroni nose at first, but tropical fruits take over with dark chocolate. So good! A tropical garden on the palate, with even fruits like cherry. Very ripe fruit. And right next door a well-stocked patisserie, and the pastry chef didn't skimp on the vanilla. A rum with everything! Very balanced, but perhaps a little too diluted. The empty glass brings out the smokiness and red port that had been masked until then. I lowered the score a little after tasting the Plenipotenzario, the higher ABV making all the difference. Tasted again and confirmed my first impression.

It was an interesting introduction to the Foursquare world at the time and undoubtedly a good rum. Vanilla, toffee, plus some fruit from the port barrel - very pleasing without any rough edges. However, Foursquare can do much more when bottled at higher percentages - in this respect, it is probably more of a collector's item for FS lovers today than a qualitative exclamation mark of the Exceptional Cask Series. However, it is convincing as an impeccable sipping rum.

A little bit 'meh' in the light of some of the more recent foursquare's but still a great rum, when it was released it was quite something! On the nose there's fruits and vanilla, same again on the palate with some oak and chocolate. The sweetness of the port cask finish is noticeable. Shortish finish. Definitly a collectors bottle these days!

This cask matured in port casks is slightly better than the first release and I would have liked an extra bottle for my shelf. The nose is typical Barbadian with fruits and vanilla topped with chocolate and oak. The palate is more complex compared to the first release and once rested full of flavours. Sweet, fruity and spices in a balanced mix followed by cocoa and oak. The finish is medium long and sweet/fruity with added vanilla and oak.

Classic Foursquare on the nose, tropical fruit, vanilla and a hint of chocolate. On the palate quite a lot of fruit, which quickly turns into sweet vanilla candies. At today's rising price, the taste experience does not correspond, but considering past prices, very good despite low ABV.

Rum Club Switzerland Tasting Set. Thanks Denis for organizing. Very approachable Foursquare with a clear influence of the Port Cask Finish. On the nose vanilla, caramel, some dried fruit and wood. On the palate soft and round with sweet fruit, spices and a slight winey note. Little pressure and depth, but clean and pleasant to drink. Solid Foursquare, but without big surprises.

Amazing dram. The intensity and the persistence despite the low abv are amazing. Port cask influence is noticeable but appropriate with raisins and chocolate that add to the usual foursquare notes, coconut nuts and the cask notes

Bought a bottle on the basis of a favorable whiskyfun review (paid around 30€). I remember being disappointed by the screw top (no cork) but pleasantly surprised by the rum. The 40% didnt feel watered doen or diluted. The port maturation made the rum quite sweet without being cloying. Should have bought additional bottles when I had the chance.

... Foursquare is a distillery from Barbados producing amazing rums for everyday sipping. It's a rum especially appreciated by rum lovers who are fed up with sugar and are looking for a gentle, sweet rum full of coconut, vanilla, chocolate and caramel. Simply pleasant and not aggressive flavors.

Round, gourmand rum. Nice notes of pastry spices, vanilla, a little wood, beautiful yellow fruits, peaches. No surprises on the nose or palate, this is a typical Barbados rum.
