I got this sample for my birthday today and just had to try it. This is the most expensive Neisson you can buy and I've only tried one other Armada thus far (1992). A very well rounded rum with super balance between wood and spices as well as a touch of toffee. Leather and chocolate compliment those flavours on consecutive sips. Despite the relatively low ABV this rum manages to hit all the right spots on the nose and palate.

Neisson Armada 1991 – 45% The highlight of this Neisson batch (and even of the entire tasting!). In 2017, for its 85th anniversary, the distillery launched an exceptional series: the Armada, bringing together the vintages 1991, 1993, 1995 as well as a blend called Drop by Drop. This 1991 version, limited to 230 copies, was offered at €2000... and now costs two to three times more. A 45% rum, aged 25 years under tropical climate, is already incredible in itself. So thanks to Thomas for sharing this treasure! A true gem: masterful balance, extreme finesse, almost perfect alcohol integration. You find a subtle play between wood and spices, enhanced by a comforting caramelized touch. Despite its moderate strength, it expresses itself with impressive intensity, both on the nose and palate. 👉 A true masterpiece.
