XM Royal Rum 10 Years
Here's the twist: despite the Guyana label, members note the bulk rum is actually sourced from Trinidad and Barbados. In the glass it's a plain, easy pour — vanilla, caramel and a little dried fruit, round and light. A few tasters catch nail polish and cherry on the nose, and most agree the finish fades fast. Pleasant and simple rather than deep.

Review by Stefan Persson
This rum is produced, by Banks DIH in Guyana, or more correctly aged, blended and bottled cause they don’t any cane fields or stills. They nowadays buy their bulk rum from Trinidad and Barbados. It’s first aged in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished for six months in former Sherry casks. The aroma is great and at the palate it’s more than OK, but the finish is weak and short.

A quite weak rum, with a very short finish. Not so many flavors at all,. Some vanilla and some oak maybe?
Review by TheJackDrop
"Weird mix between an English and a Spanish, without much flavor, sounds like a diplomatico. To sum up, my tasting notes: On the nose: Caramel In the mouth: Round, Molasses Finish: Sweet".

Nothing spectacular. Perfectly basic rum.

This is not a complex or sophisticated rum. I probably agree to the community character of 6. But on the other side it is pleasant and agreeable so that adds to the rating for me. Smooth caramel and vanilla - nice and plain.

Aromas of nail polish remover and cherries. Taste is more oak, and a stronger than expected burn given the 40% ABV.

Read full review ›I'd be interested to try the two brand's 15 year old's in a blind tasting session. That could be very interesting. The one thing that puzzles me is how they get it like this when it isn't from Guyana? You know what I think I might have to ask them!
