Depaz XO Grande Réserve (Wooden Box)
Nearly everyone here lands in the same place: a beautifully balanced Depaz agricole that punches well above its 45%. Tasters pick up sugarcane, dried fruit, citrus, licorice and a touch of vanilla, with a long, smooth finish. The one recurring wish is a couple more degrees of proof for extra grip. Worth knowing: this older 12-year is gone, replaced by a younger version under a blue label.
- Lots of flavor
- Long smooth finish
- Well balanced

How does Depaz XO Grande Réserve (Wooden Box) taste?
Aggregated from 15 community reviews.
Balanced 12yo agricole, big flavor for 45% A near-unanimous favorite — full-bodied, round and packed with flavor for the ABV. The only real gripe is people wishing it had a bit more punch on the finish.

With a minimum age of 12 years this rum is a really good example on how to make a proper rum Agricole.
Review by Stefan Persson
An at least 12yo very subtle, smooth, full bodied and nice Rhum with rich flavors of fruits, grass and sugarcane. Unfortunately it’s not produced anymore instead is the distillery producing another Agricole with the same name less aged and bottled in another type of bottle with a blue label.

I got this wonderfull sample from Joachim! Thanks man 🤜🏻 This is an awesome and delicious agricole🤤🤤 Nose: Sugarcane, herbal and floral, orange, leather, cinnamon and licorice. Mouth: Full bodied, less fruity. Finish: Long and delicious. The alcohol is integrated well. Blindly i gave it >45%. Great price per value ratio!!!

The typical Depaz markers are present (dried fruit, licorice). A hint of sweetness. Very round, very balanced and above all very drinkable. 🍼🍼🍼 Phenomenal finish! Depaz profile and phenomenally drinkable. The newer version (golden stripe at the top of the label) tastes very similar, perhaps a touch more citrus.

A wonderfully balanced agricole. A little sweet at the beginning, then a little wood and finally the herbal notes. I already like it very much. It could just have a little more oomph.

Quite restrained on the nose. Surprisingly creamy and intense in the mouth. But could do with 2-3 percent more.

Beautiful, elegant and round rum. I would probably never have tasted this if Rodolphe hadn't "forced" it on me in the split. Overall a nice representative, although I think the rating is a little too high so far.
