A must try for anyone into Foursquare rums! The moment the seal broke on the sample bottle I could smell typical foursquare, lots of vanilla, also quite sweet on the nose. When tasted it's sweet and delicious, fruity, along with vanilla and oak. It's well balanced and I am also getting raisins/grape which may be to do with the Madeira cask finish. Very nice! Being an older ECS release it isn't often seen nowadays, and commands a lot of money on the secondary market.

This is another of my favourite Foursquare rums. The nose is fruity with some molasses, vanilla and oak. In the back i detect some polish. The palate is well balanced and complex, fruity with a lot of spices topped with oak nd chocolate. The finish is long and well balanced between oak, vanilla and orange.

One of the best on Foursquare: ultra gourmet yet complex.

A Foursquare favorite among fans of the genre, and it's easy to see why. The nose is particularly fruity: apart from the coconut, citrus and banana common to Bajan profiles, mango makes an appearance to add exoticism and roundness. Spices, fine wood, cooked caramel, milk chocolate, molasses and honeyed notes complete an accessible, structured picture. The attack on the palate is darker and flashier than the nose. Spices are more dominant, followed by oak, pastry notes, coconut and milk chocolate. Hazelnut, cinnamon and roasted notes add depth to the juice. Fruit is more discreet. The whole is warm, fairly round and balanced on the palate. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is of good quality, focusing on spices (cinnamon) and dark notes: smoke, burnt sugar, cooked caramel, crème brûlée and molasses give a good cohesion on the finish with dried fruit and milk chocolate. A pleasant Foursquare with character that lives up to its reputation.

Very horny foursquare. Salted caramel, milk chocolate, apricot, and just delicious! Reminds something of plenipotenzario!

Foursquare and ex-Madeira barrels was not only with the top dog "Destino" an excellent match - also the Criterion brings the heavy fruit sweetness from the Madeira barrel and the flavors from the ex-Bourbon barrels so typical for Foursquare together great. The result is a very tasty melange of dried fruit, vanilla, cookie dough and dark spice notes that is really fun to drink. Not a Century Rum, but definitely a drop to pay attention to. Yummy.

Tasted at the Whisky & Rum aan Zee festival IJmuiden 2023. Rather mild for a FourSquare.

Really good Foursquare. Everything you would expect (coconut, spice, molasses, ...) with an exciting salt note on the palate. Price but now very ambitious on the secondary market.

Low alcohol taste, that is great. But also low FSQ profile
