More than one member lands on the same verdict: a "misslungenes Experiment" — a promising nose that doesn't fully click on the palate. The Port Mourant base brings dark cherry, chocolate and Demerara syrup, while the ruby port cask adds red fruit and dry, tannic grip. It's dark, oily and intense at 59.3%, dry rather than sweet, with tobacco and menthol running through the finish. Fascinating, but divisive.

8,4:On the nose, roasted oak with nuts, caramel, leather, port wine barrel is obvious, red fruits like cherry, citrus, grapes, dried figs and raisins, nail polish, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, currants and banana arise, chocolate, burnt sugar, walnuts, pastry, spicy, molasses is herbaceous, floral, dark with black tea. 7,9:On the palate, the attack is very bitter, dry, tannic, quite intense, slightly sweet as port barrel impact is strong, with red and dried fruits like raisins, apricots, currants, berries and citrus fruits, later peaches, some candied, roasted wood notes like caramel, chocolate, nuts, leather, spicy, slightly medicinal with menthol and molasses is dark with black tea, herbaceous, floral. 8,1:The finish is medium long, dry and tannic, wine barrel impact stays strong, with grapes, berries, prunes and raisins, dried apricots, roasted oak notes like nuts, chocolate, coffee, leather, peppery, smoky and earthy molasses with tobacco..

Somehow unround. Actually not a bad rum, but somehow indefinable with a lot of barrel/ menthol influence. I can't really taste the PM.

This is one of the El Dorado cask finishes and a pretty good one. A very fruity nose especially if u you add a drop or two of water. The palate is sweet and bitter at the same time with lots of fruitiness and spicy at the same time. The finish is alcoholic and frimuity at the same time.

I like it better on the nose than on the palate and overall it doesn't really convince me. The running RX number is the best thing about this rum. Somewhat random in taste and somehow like a failed experiment that was still bottled. Not a must-try.

Dark and heavy, oily viscosity. Great nose: nicely spicy. Demerara syrup with some bouillon cube and gravy. A bit prickly in the mouth. Also tropical fruits come through. Heavy on the finish.

Today's test: the Last Cask series from El Dorado RX6784 RX13225 RX13396 RX5449 RX3456 and RX6785. All in all, quite solid bottlings but unfortunately did not quite meet expectations. The pricing in my opinion a bit too high.

I had this for a while now, and never came around to taste it. Smelling it, I easily get the port notes, and knowing El Dorado I expected some sweetness. Alas, far from it! It is quite intense (alcohol) and dry. Fruits are a stronger in the smell and less so to my taste buds, but I forgot water and that might be the reason.

The nose is nice Demerara, heavy, dark cherry, chocolate, a bit of orange and caramel. But there's also a bit of smoky tobacco coming through. The palate then surprises with a mix of floral-sweet and tobacco. Not sweet, moist tobacco, but dry, smoky tobacco. Interesting, but not really great. The finish keeps the tobacco relatively long and intense. At first, I couldn't understand the reserved reviews, but Serge hits the nail on the head. It tastes like a failed experiment. Floral sweetness and smoky-dry tobacco don't go together. A pity, because the nose is really promising and the alcohol is well integrated.
