Here's the surprise: this Martinique agricole leans more pastry shop than grassy cane. Members catch apricot, chocolate and a nutty, praline note, with cinnamon and prune underneath — one taster said it smells like a bakery. It's bone-dry, elegant, and long for 45.4%. A few note the pepper can push hard and the fruit fades as the bottle opens.

Great Agricole! Insane complexity without any one component standing out. Bone dry, nice wood and dough/cookies/cake. This is how it smells in Demel's bakery. Edit: Tasted again La Maison du Whisky SGN. Awesome stuff!!

I love Neisson because most of their releases are just up there and this one is no exception. Well rounded and complex rum with spices and wood as well as some tea and chocolate. The nuttiness is balancing out everything.

The nose is marked by apricot and chocolate. The sugar cane brings a certain freshness. The woodiness is discreet. On the palate, apricot and chocolate still lead the dance. You also find a bit of prunes and pepper. It's very complex. The finish is very long, especially for a rum at this alcohol level. The whole is very well made. To think I missed it the first time I drank it, what a huge slap to taste it again.

Edit: after a third of the bottle, my evaluation changed. Sometimes I find it amazing, sometimes okay, lacking fruitiness with pepper that sometimes feels too strong. Bottle bought opportunistically considering the prices of an old Neisson... What struck me at the bottle opening was the praline side. Since then, other aromas caught up. Fruit but cooked and candied like candied orange. Chocolate. Freshness, it remains an agricole... Super texture, the alcohol level is perfect. Very elegant. In short, a real success.

Alcohol present on the nose, a honeyed attack on nuts and yellow fruits like ripe papaya as well as apricot and peach. Very nice power on the palate despite the reduction, still focused on yellow fruits. Lovely creaminess, I really like it.
