Poured neat it splits the room: sweet up front, then a dry, smoky finish of burnt oak and tobacco that one taster bluntly called an ashtray. Coffee, clove and caramel round out the nose. At 40% it's soft and dark — heavily colored — and does its best work stretched over Coke, where the burnt oak still shows without taking over. A budget-friendly everyday pour, not a 15-year showpiece.

#6361 06/08.02.2026 My first visit to The Village in Nuremberg and it was a very pleasant surprise. I will definitely attend again as there is more than enough rum going around. This is a pretty sweet rum with a dry palate with a smoky touch. I know this is a very popular rum, but for me it is too sweet and unbalanced.

Spirits fair Aquavitae Mülheim October 2026. Last year I was here for the first time and I really liked it, so I'm going to this fair again this year. Spicy, but in a strange kind of way.

A darker color than expected, with a caramel aroma. A nice burnt oak flavor straight, with no hint of that caramel. When mixed with Coke, the burnt oak is still present, but does not overpower the drink.

I once tasted this rum. Initially surprised by the relatively low price compared to the declared age of 15 years. But inside, nothing outstanding was found. And it seems to me that the “15 years” is not accurate. Tastes like some cheap “bottom shelf” rum, heavily colored with caramel coloring. Not recommended.
