12.05.2012 Celebrating my friends 50th birthday and I brought a few rums to try. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Wood, light roasted, vanilla, sweet, floral, vegetal, pineapple. Palate Light, wood, sweet, vanilla, floral, tannins, tannins, pineapple. Finish Short to medium, wood, clove, fruits, grass, spice.

Superbe dégustation d’un autre temps, un côté mielleux, réglisse, puis un nez qui évolue beaucoup sur des notes plus fumées, un côté assez estérisé, et en même temps une rondeur un peu sucrée, avec pas mal de fruits noirs. Bouche plus métallique, des notes légèrement brûlées, et ces fruits noirs. Un très beau moment de rhum!

Muss 30 min im Glas atmen. Dann geht es los. Rauch, Honig, Frische, etwas Minze. Einfach Top. Die 46% geben dem Rum eine schöne Leichtigkeit. Schön Trocken und lange im Mund. Nach mehreren Runden von über 60%igen Rums probiert und es stört nicht. Einfach lecker. Legend.

Sehr schöne Rockley-Nase mit getrockneten Kräutern, ätherischem Öl und Bienenwabe. Am Gaumen Harz, Honig, würzig-pfeffrig. Altes Fass im Abgang Der niedrige ABV isr hier gar nicht störend. Besten Dank an Josip für das Sample!

Beeindruckend, wie das Rockley-Profil hier bei „nur“ 46% abliefert. Etwas runder und süsser als das 15-jährige Release. Honig, tropische Früchte, Holzaromen, Vanille, Rauch. Ein weiterer Beleg dafür, was Cadenheads damals für grossartige Rums abgefüllt hat.

Die Reduzierung steht dem Rum nicht schlecht. Die Komplexität ist nach wie vor stark vorhanden. Es ist dem Profil entsprechend ein wunderbares Spiel von Aromen und Geschmäckern. Säure, Süsse, etwas rauchig. Weiter macht mir am Profil Spass, dass es sich im Mund verändert - toll.

At first, the smell disillusioned me. Honey? First of all, no trace. The rum shows first of all a surprisingly large number of barrel notes for its young age and immediately afterwards an acidic fruitiness, which I would have spontaneously pushed in the direction of quince. In the background, a light, vanilla-like sweetness with some smoke joins in. Overall, I don't quite like this at first and it's a far cry from what I've appreciated about Rockley so far. After half an hour, however, things look completely different and it's always worth mentioning at this point how much a rum can change and how much patience can reward you. Honey and overripe mango now dominate the attack hand in hand, and in a very good balance. It's not as brute as certain Bechmark Rockleys, but it's definitely enough to convey what Rockley can do in general. Overall, there's just a lot of sweetness coming across, and the vanilla, which by now reveals itself to be intense bourbon vanilla, again reinforces that impression. There is also resin, pine needles and pine cones. Anyway, I've always found that parts of the aroma reminds me of things that come from a fir forest. The whole thing is rounded out by the fine smoke, which just fits incredibly well into this sweet construct of honey, fruitiness and sweetness. Anyone who has ever had a very good Penicillin cocktail knows what I'm talking about.Taste-wise, I'm pleasantly surprised. The rum has hardly any of the sweetness, which it still had in the nose, but is pleasantly mouth-filling for its 46% and does not necessarily make a strongly diluted impression. The rum is, however, rather on the tart side, sweetness I take as already mentioned only discreetly and also only at the beginning. Also seems to be from the fruitiness of the mango still hardly what there. The honey sweetness has rather transformed into beeswax and very dominant now spread resin, pine needle, bitterness and tannins from the barrel. The latter is surprisingly glaringly present for this age. Not that it becomes too distracting, but the barrel definitely says hello

Teil 4/8 unseres 1986er Rockley Tastings: wow! unglaublich intensiv sowohl an der Nase als auch im Geschmack! richtig schön dick, cremig und ölig. Papaya trifft Minze, trifft Piment trifft Banane und zum Schluss kumquatmarmelade mit frischem Vanillemark. geile Nummer! unglaublich smooth und dennoch komplex genug und nicht so schnell weg wie sonst oft bei Trinkstärke. in kurz: die beste Rockley 86 Trinkstärke!🤤🇧🇧

Relativ hell im Glas für einen 18-jährigen. In der Nase merkt man die verhaltenen 46% fällt aber in kleinster Weise negativ auf. Noten von Röstaromen, Bienenwachs und leichte Vanille. Am Gaumen eine angenehme Süße gepaart mit typischen würzigen Aromen von Piment und Holz. Eine unglaubliche Honignote macht sich im Mund breit - leider hält sie nicht so lange an.

Ich bin ja nicht so der große Barbados-Rumfan, aber dieser Rockley holt mich mal wieder ab. Diese rauchig harzige Honignote mit einem Duft von Akazienholz ist schon sehr besonders und einzigartig. Der geringe ABV fällt hier kaum auf. Hervorragend, wenn nicht der Abgang relativ kurz wäre. Dieses kostet ihm leider ein paar Punkte
