For me, the spearhead of tropical aged Demeraras. The nose greets you very warmly and composed. Wonderfully integrated glue. Fresh, aromatic, and warm pipe tobacco. Loads of sugary sweet raisins, dried dates, and coconut oil. The sweetness is also complemented by Demerara sugar, caramel, and crème brûlée. Very nicely integrated old wood. Everything has a very heavy depth and is incredibly balanced. On the palate, very composed. Lots of old wood, polish, dried fruits, orange peels, and a very nice natural sweetness. There's practically no bitterness here, and the alcohol is excellently integrated. Even though overall, and especially with Demerara rum, I tend to lean more continental, this rum is an absolute masterpiece for me.

Very, very few bottles of this demerara masterpiece! A poem! Rich, intense full of fragrance! The rum is dense, concentrated and all its aromas stick in your mouth! The best uitvlugt ever tasted so far!

26.11.2025 Retasting and still an excellent rum and my final sample. ---------- This is an absolute highlight. One of the best Demerara I've tried so far. Strong flavours from pouring and while resting I could pick up the nose from my couch. Intense, oily and well balanced from start to finish. Love it and would love a bottle, but that would be extremely expensive. The empty glass is an absolute wonder of the world after an hour. The price tag on this bottle was very low at release and it has gon up by a factor of at least 50x

97 points? Same peffection as Skeldon 78? Come on, no way. Way far from that. Good, but more alcohol taste and less wood/nutz/fruity/blossom taste. EDIT - I have the opportunity to taste Uitvlugt 1988 three times for now. Three different times, three different samples. And I just need to confirm my first rating. There are much better old Velier Demeraras because U88 got so big sharp alcoholic taste ... Stare Velier Demerara rumy je to nejlepsi, co v rumovem svete muzete ochutnat. Rumy zraly spise omylem nekolik let v tropech a nikdo obsah sudu nedoplnoval. Andelska dan byla 90% a vice, proto je chut obzvlaste plna a intenzivni. I kdyz se jedna o extra drahou zalezitost, doporucu alespon jednou v zivote ochutnat rum z teto serie.

The time has come to taste this legendary bottling, and I must say I’m not disappointed. This rum is absolutely stunning in its balance and complexity. It showcases the full aromatic palette that this type of Savalle still rum can offer. The integration of the alcohol is exemplary. A truly exceptional tasting experience.

Welch ein Genuss. Für mich eine neue Höchstbewertung. Schon in der Nase ist alles sehr ausgewogen mit allerlei karamellisierten Früchten. Am Gaumen extrem ausgewogen von allem etwas. Früchte, etwas Holz, minimal bitter und doch leicht süß. Der Abgang bleibt und bleibt.

Never had so many tags chosen in the app to describe a rum. This is the top premier cru pinot noir from Burgundy of rum. Light (column still) but extremely complex, perfect balance on both nose and palate. Yellow fruits, nuts, caramel, floral notes, smooth and elegant. A wide range of all different flavors orchestrated to perfection. Why not 10.0 points? Maybe, but I am the cabernet guy, not the pinot noir fan. Fantastic rum thought!
