Six years in oak rounds off the cane-juice edges: apricot, orange and melon on the nose, then grapefruit, a little vanilla and soft wood on the palate. Tasted this Agricole from Rivière du Mat at Rhum Fest Paris. It’s a blend where each distillate is aged for at least 6-years in oak barrels. It’s a little confusing about the ABV some says 42% and others 43%. I believe there’s an older release that’s at 42% and that this one is at 43%, but I’m not sure. The nose is round, subtle, flowery, spicy, fruity, overripe and vegetal with scents of tobacco, ginger, jackfruit, apricots, orange, melon and solvents. At the palate it’s round, fruity, spicy, overripe, vegetal, woody, sweet, and smoky with flavors of dried fruits, grapefruit, pineapple, green olives, sugarcane, grass and vanilla. The finish is medium long with flavors persisting.

One of the last ones I tried at the German Rum Fest and it aas also a bit disappointing. The nose and palate are OK, but it's like something is missing or the flavours flatten before they peak. Probably a rum most people can drink.

On the nose it is woody, a bit of varnish, smoky and spicy. On the palate it is delicate with sweet fruit, some medicinal notes, dried fruit, very light smokiness, but everything remains very light.

The whole is very decent, the nose is not aggressive. And on caramel. The attack is frank, caramelized, with a return of spice. The finish is short.
