Enmore Kill Devil 1990
Guyana fans who like their Demerara dry, woody and mature will feel at home here. This 25-year Enmore leans on dark chocolate, prunes, licorice and pencil-lead wood, with a savoury, spicy edge and a flash of orange. At 46% it drinks light in body but the flavours stay clear — one taster called it an easy sipper that's never tiring. A few note the finish runs a touch short.

8,4:On the nose, the first impression we get are tropical fruits like banana, weak pineapple, citrus fruits and green, vegetal molasses, nutty wood, a whiff of varnish. On aeration, flowery and grassy tones arise, red bell peppers, tones of spices like vanilla, cinammon, maggi and at last prunes, some licorice. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is rather mild with roasted&spicy wood notes like nuts, leather, burnt sugar and dark chocolate, from spices cinnamon, cardamom and vanilla. The fruits teasing our buds are dried, prunes the stronger and citrus, as molasses is grassy, vegetal with red bell peppers and flowery, with dark licorice undertones. Later we come to mineral and bitter notes, some rubber. 8,2:The finish is medium long, tannic, with wood spice, slightly smoky, crunchy bread, grassy and herbaceous molasses, some orange... Edit:9.11.25

A great drop, if only it weren't for the dilution. Classic Versailles markers with loads of roasted aromas and pencil lead. What's exciting about the profile is how multi-layered the dark and roasted flavors are, yet the mouthfeel is very light. The finish, on the other hand, lasts a long time.

A very good enmore and a definite must try if you get the chance.

A beautiful alger Enmore which, despite its low ABV, is quite strong and intense on the nose as well as on the palate. The spice is balanced and intense, complementing the wood present. Hidden prunes can also be detected. Only the relatively short finish costs this very good bottling a few points

Despite the low drinking strength, or probably because of the low drinking strength, the aromas are well noticeable without seeming thin. For me a good easy sipper that is not tiring. I like it.

The spicy, fruity yet subtle nose promises a truly soft taste experience. Nutty tones, Christmas spices, but also fruity and herbal accents make the nose very interesting. On the palate, the 1990 Enmore, despite the low 46%, has a convincing intensity. Licorice, dried plum and dark chocolate transition into spicy woody aromas up to orange and end with herbal accents. The finish is just as intense and complex and clearly shows again the roasted aromas, tannins and spicy aspects. The notes of herbs and bread please me very much. Great product, even though I would never have guessed it to be 25 years old. The buttery soft flavor diversity is a "must try" for all who like Guyana. Thanks for the great sample 😀

Typical Versailles profile with the typical pencil notes. Unfortunately a bit thin, but the start is long, though relatively dry and woody.

A nice little enamel. Without a doubt, yes. And I'm surprised how much flavour it has to offer given the lower ABV. The nose is full of classic stiffness, wood, leather and age. The flavours follow a similar profile with a shorter finish.

It genuinely makes me happy to try rums that immediately take you to a certain place. In this case my mom’s kitchen, where dark soysauce, vinegar and spices are carefully balanced and integrated into savoury dishes. Interestingly enough, when tasting it, it morphs into dark chocolate mixed with lots of woody tannins and a classic orange note. The age really shows beautifully in here and wouldn’t have wished for a stronger abv. Mature, composed and expressive.

Big surprise. I was a little worried about the low ABV, but it is true. A beautiful and harmonious Enmore with flavours of prunes dark chocolate spice, vanilla, teoch toasted barrel. Alcohol is almost not noticeable but the finish is really long. It's done well!

Rather slow and not very intense on nose, palate smooth but low ABV makes is not impressive for me. Not bad overall.
