Best sipped slowly at room temperature, this Diamond pot-still Guyanese leans dark and heavy: oak, roasted coffee, raisins and a whiff of leather, with light caramel underneath. What splits people is the strong smoky, almost whisky-like character — one taster even likened the tail to "lightly dirty Caroni." At 58% it needs air and time. 28-03-2025 It got a second chance. But it the same experience. 10-08-2024 Has a strong note and taste of smoked whisky. Not a rum for me.

Ja mir gefällt dieser Diamond doch sehr. Er ist, wie für einen Guyana recht typisch, doch ein recht dunkler Rum. Wir können hier Leder, Mokka, Salz, Karamell und Eiche erkennen, außerdem noch ziemlich rauchig.

19. 01.2019 A nice evening with colleagues from all over Denmark. Notes. Dark in colour. Nose: wood, roasted, coffee, dried fruit, light caramel, licorice. Palate: oily, wood, roasted, coffee, raisin, citrus, faint leather. Finish: medium to long, wood, roasted, raisin, chocolate.

Vůně taková těžkopádná, prakticky jen sušené ovoce a převládající vůně po finiši. Rum se kamsi ztratil. Náznak whisky. Chuť už je prakticky jen jako sušené ovoce a kouřová whisky. Opravdu zvláštní věc, z které jsem v rozpacích. Závěr až jako lehce špinavé Caroni.

Malty, woody, sweet. Raisins, camphor, lightly roasted caramel. A slightly bitter aftertaste like a Fernet Branca, but not as intense as Fernet or other digestive bitters. Complex, needs time.
