My discovery of the evening. Deep cognac notes. A great sipper. Heavy nut tones. At the same time easy to drink, hardly any change at the end, very straightforward due to the young age. A nice young Hampden.

Tasting evening at Dr. Django (Jamaica): This special bottling is really fun. Compared to the normal version, this bottling develops more buttery fruit acidity and less spice and wood, which adds to the aroma diversity. Therefore, it stands out as the clear winner.

Delicious nose with lots of fruit, orange blossom, papaya, banana and light esters... smells a bit like quince jelly. On the palate somewhat sobering compared to the nose... less esters, less fruity though still interesting. Finish slightly bitter like sprayed orange peel...

This OWH is great! Balanced with a harmonious expansion through the cask influences. In the mouth, nice roasted aromas (coffee) and spices come through, which together with the fruits and caramel fit very well. Like it!

Relatively fruity OWH with noticeable influence of the Cognac cask. Also brings quite a lot of woody notes and a slightly bitter finish. Alcohol could be better integrated. Does not reach the 2012 OWH from The Roots.

Nice Hampden, the Cognac finish tames the esters a bit and makes it appear a bit more mature. You can already get it today at some auctions for a very reasonable price.

Nice Hampden, you can't go wrong if you get it at a good price. You should always keep in mind that you can get the original Hampden OWH bottling with 46% for around 55€. For a corresponding price, you have a great rum here that also works well in Mai Tai and co.
