30.08.2026 Retasting at the German Rum Festival 2026. Decent rum but not something I would buy. ----------- I think this is a rum you either like or not. In my mind it's out of balance though you get the Madeira Cask in the profile.

Tasted this single cask at the Rhum Fest Paris 2026. It’s rather rare cause it’s a blend of 75% 6yo and 25% 25yo rum where the latter one was produced at their historic Engenho do Hinton which closed 1985. This blend was then finished in former madeira wine casks. The nose is elegant, soft, sweet, spicy, nutty, woody, fruity and vegetal with scents of sugarcane, toffee, licorice, almonds, grapes, raisins, grass, tobacco and coffee. At the palate it’s round, smooth, balanced, woody, fruity, spicy, vegetal and a little dry with flavors of peaches, figs, raisins, grapes, licorice, fennel and tobacco. The finish is medium long, smooth, dry and spicy.

Christian's Pub Hamburg December 2025. And another Madeira, this time a different finish. I find it better than the Gin finish. It's definitely very woody, nutty, and toasty, also quite medicinal on the palate.

Spicy, slightly dry. Pleasant starter. Somewhat watery in the finish due to the 42%.

Phew, that's not enough for the price. It comes across rather flat on the nose, the alcohol is quite present and dominant. The impression is confirmed on the tongue, with woody, earthy influences and a little red fruit, solvent and sugar cane. A good starter due to the low drinking strength, but offers too little to keep you busy for longer

On the nose, you can already smell the sugar cane but accompanied by an alcoholic note. The taste is then completely different: grapes and earth are clearly recognizable, as is a roasted note. The finish is long and alcoholic. Not a bad rum but a little edgy which can be interesting.
